Couldn't figure out exactly where to post this question. So here it is. I have read most of the posts on insurance which have highly recommended National Interstate and Miller RV Insurance.
Yesterday, I contacted both of the above trying to get quotes. I sent an e-mail to National Interstate yesterday morning and again this morning. No reply! There is no an agent for them in my area.
I also went to the website of Miller and filled out the info for an online quote. Today, I e-mailed them in regards to this to be sure it went thru. Neither has been acknowledged.
My question is, have any of you out there used Explorer RV Insurance Agency in Ohio. A former neighbor at the campground used them and gave me info on them. They have not only sent me one quote but have already revised the quote for me and returned it. It will be written by Progressive if I go that direction. Do any of you have Progressive and how are they with claims?
Also, GEICO and Progressive direct?

The reason we went with Miller Insurance is because they UNDERSTAND full time RVing and know what you need.I've been told before on this forum that Miller is higher priced than others if you check around, but for me on recomendations I read here on this forum it was easier to use them.I don't feel I was unfairly charged for my fulltimers insurance.I reccomend calling them on the phone and talking to them.

We purchased our Mobile Suites in May and I got right on the phone to insurance companies. Our current insurance company is Oklahoma Farm Bureau and they have cheaper rates than any one else I've found. However, they do NOT cover RV's when one is living in them full-time. So, once we go full-time, I'll have to find another source.
When I was checking, I checked USAA, National Interstate, Millers Insurance and one other that I can't remember right now. We did find that Miller's quote was higher than some of the others, but the staff was very friendly with me.
I had called them rather than work with them online. When dealing with specifics like insurance, I prefer personal contact. That way, in a conversation, one party may say something that gives the other party a point to follow up on. Doesn't work well that way when working only with e-mails, chat sites, or other written means.
If you are not full-timing, you will probably have more options, although some of the options may not offer "full replacement" coverage.

I had Miller Insurance for a year but wasn't satisfied they were trying very hard to come up with options so that my year two insurance was about the same cost. I found someone at Dougherty & Associates out of Sioux Falls worked hard for me to come up with something that met my needs. I recommend them.

I found this link. Looks like they specialize in full-timer RV insurance.
We have National Interstate Insurance. Our agent is Gina Shaver at Epic Insurance http://www.epic-ins.com/index.html out of Sioux Falls, SD. She has been great with us through the years, and will search different companies to find the insurance and rates that are best for you.
She's very knowledgeable when it comes to full-time insurance.

Jim and Terry, thanks for the links.Although I am happy with what Miller did for me if I can get the same coverage for less I will do it. Since we don't have an unlimited budget we squeeze every penny when we can when we can.

We,too, use Gina Shaver in Sioux Falls. What a great agent. Back in May we had an accident in Texas at noon on a Saturday. I took a chance and called her office. She was not in but another agent contacted her. She was on way to airport headed to Disney World for a week but she called me from her car.
She told me what to do and gave me her personal cell phone number if I had a problem. We did not have any problems as National Interstate was beyond satisfactory. Then a few days later I got an email from her asking how things were going. UNBELIEVEABLE!
And to top it off, we had only had this insurance 6 weeks!

Thanks for all the inputs. We are still getting quotes from different places and it is amazing how much they vary. Trying to be sure I'm comparing apples to apples.
Will be calling Miller, Gilbert, ExplorerRV and possibly the new one you all have just added to the mix on Monday.
By the way, is anyone out there familiar with Explorer RV. Some former neighbors here in the campground told us about them.

We have been happy with RV Advantage/Farm&City Insurance for many years - http://www.fcisinsurance.com/rv-insurance.html. They have been proactive about moving us between insurance companies as problems and rates changed with their other clients.

We have our full-timing insurance with Progressive via Miller Insurance. To be honest, we haven't had to deal with Miller much at all since the policy was written and we do the renewals online through Progressive. Now I will say, that we haven't gotten any recent quotes elsewhere and Miller has not been "proactive" in telling us about other options, so that could certainly be a flaw.
But when we were looking for insurance, we still weren't sure where we were going to domicile. and they were the only ones that provided us quotes for different states and zip codes -the other companies didn't want to be bothered with that. And the quotes we got were lower than the other quotes from the places that would only quote us for our residence state at the time. So we are pretty loyal, but we'll echo Racerguy and say premium savings, if significant, will rule.
Miller is a fairly small office, but with very knowledgeable people. I second the comment to call them and talk to them in person. Even if you don't go through them, they can help educate you on RV insurance.
As for Progressive, we've had one minor claim (with the truck, not the RV), and it was handled efficiently and professionally. I can tell you our Jeep was hit by a Geico policyholder and their claims service was wonderful ... in that instance. Of course, neither of those incidents involved RVs and that can be a completely different ballgame.
Also, we've recently met Therese from Farm & City Insurance (which bjoyce linked to above) while we were speaking at the RVSEF Lifestyle, Education, & Safety Conference. She is also very knowledgeable. Can't vouch for their policies or service, but Therese is a great gal and we'll likely get our next quote from her.

We went with National Interstate for both the RV and truck. Jo spent many years in the insurance business and shopped the policies very heavily. National was the best deal for our Wisconsin domicile address.
I must also say their claims service has been exceptional. We have had 4 claims in 5 years, 1 on the RV (blowout damage) and 3 with the truck, all my fault :( , not only were they handled smoothly - they have not raised our rates.
I can't believe it. I would have gotten rid of me for sure :) Good company!

When we began researching full-timing coverage earlier this year, I contacted various companies and agencies, including Miller based on the comments in this forum.
We went with Miller and have appreciated the fact that they are indeed knowledgeable about full-timing and are a smaller, personable staff.
At the time, I found that the coverage and rates Miller offered were competitive.

Has anyone had claims with Progressive that was bought thru ExplorerRV? Our friends who recommended ExplorerRV actually have Interstate National thru them. Their domicile is Florida where ours will be Alabama. Maybe that's the difference. So far, ExplorerRV is leading.
Farm and City have been very pro-active but they will not insure it at Replacement Value and that is what we want, not what we paid for our 2009 Montana 3605RL Tenth Anniversary Edition with most all the bells and whistles. The fact that we shopped and got an excellent deal on it should not play into the insurance coverage. This RV is our home and should be insured at replacement value and there is no way we could replace it at the price we gave for it.
All comments are still welcome. We have not purchased yet. Still sitting here with our Auto RV Insurance with State Farm who does not due fulltiming insurance.

Me Again! I now know why none of the agents/brokers have quoted us National Internet Insurance. They do not write for the STATE of Alabama. And, we plan to maintain our domicile here for medical insurance reasons. So, we have rulled out one. It won't be National Interstate no matter who we go thru.
Now my problem is that in quoting us Progressive, you would be surprised by the differences in what they will insurance our rig for. We bought our like new 2009 Montana for a song and some say that's all they can insure - the amt we paid for it. And some say they can insure it for it's value like a home. How can these RV specialists be so far between?
By the way, has anyone Gilbert Insurance out of Orlando, FL?
