I was talking to my friend today about my plans to sell S&B and buy a 5er to FT in 5 yrs(have to wait til daughter graduates in 5 yrs). She was concerned what will I do when I get too old to do this and how long will my RV last. so I have two questions : 1)any FTers over 80 out there? 2) will a good 5er last 20 yrs? I will be putting all my money into my RV and that will be my Forever home until I cant get up the steps. I hope to do this well into my 80's. I will be 62 in 5 yrs and can retire at that time.

We've met many people in their 80's that are still going strong with no idea of parking yet.
A good quality RV, if properly maintained should easily go 20 years. We see many older rigs in our travels.
Go for it, you're going to get old anyway. Might as well enjoy what time you have left.

There are a number of RV's that should last that long as long as they are taken care of properly. Jo and I are planning on the same thing. We have our house up for sale and as soon as it sells we will be living in our Mobile Suites here in Oklahoma City until we retire. Then, we plan on hitting the road until we can't do that anymore.
After that, we still plan on living in the Mobile Suites since it will be paid for. If worse comes to worse, we'll find some inexpensive retirement community with apartments or duplexes.
When you are looking at RV's, make sure what you get is on a good foundation. In this case, the frame, wheels and axles are all important.
