We've been touring Colorado and Utah for the past month. We were thinking of spending some time at Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada next month. If I am reading their website correctly, the fee for camping would be $40 per night; $20 for the camping fee, $10 for hookups, and $10 daily park admittance fee. That just seems ridiculous to me.
My question is has anyone camped there and is it worth $40 a night. We've been to Arches and Mesa Verde and I'm wondering if its similar to those. Maybe it would be better to just go for a day and pay the daily $10 fee.
I appreciate your input.

Haven't been there but looks like it gets good reviews on RV Park Reviews.

Valley of Fire is one of favorite spots. If you like Red Rock Country you won't be disappointed. As you exit I15 you will have serious doubts about continuing. Just be patient, the red rocks are not visible until you are there, about 15 miles off the highway.

This is one I am considering also. Tylersmama is it really $40 per night? That seems really steep for a state park.

Actually should have read above park reviews 1st then posted, sorry. Looks like it is actually $30 a night. 10 for park fee, 10 for campsite, 10 for water and electric. Still a little high but from the reviews it sounds beautiful.

I also saw on the parks review site that people said they paid $30, but if you go to the Nevada State Park website, their fees page says $20+$10 for hookups and $10 daily fee. It's rather confusing. I was just wondering if anyone here had person experience with the park. I guess I'll just give them a call. Thanks

Let us know what you find out. Our trip there is still quite a ways out.

This was one of our favorite places in Nevada...we had been in Las Vegas and on recommendations from others we headed there next.
If you can boondock (we did), it's cheaper. I think at the time we paid $6 to get into the park and $12 or $14 a night. Well worth it.
