I have been following many RV blogs for a couple of years now. Those who are not yet full timers are generally refered to as "wannabes". I believe the appropriate term should be "gonnabe". That certainly sounds more positive than wannabes. Also wannabes sound to much like copy cat. Just my opinion.

Jerry & Carol,
You hit the nail on the head! Gonnabe is much more positive! There are many of us preparing and working toward this goal and will attain it!

Actually the term more accurately refers to people we meet, that talk about fulltiming, but we just sense they will never do it, for one reason or another. We had a similar term in the antique business, we called them "bebacks". They just loved the item you were selling, but at the end said "I'll be back", and left.
There is definitely a difference between gonnabes and wannabes. Problem is, you have to talk to a load of wannabes, before you can tell the difference.

Been a wannabee for over 10 months now! Many may assume that's all we're ever gonnabe since it's been that long. However, we'e really "Gonnabees", just don't know when. My question is how do you tell the difference between wannabees and gonnabees.
Our house has been on the market for over six months - lowered the price twice but still sitting there. All of our furniture has been sold with the exception of two pieces - a sofa table and a wardrobe/tv armoire. So, with that said, couldn't go back if we wanted to without refurnishing the house. We have been living in the RV over 3 months - learned we could keep the house cleaner for showing that way. And, I even sold my heavy winter clothes in a yard sale.
Love living in the RV even though we're parked in a gravel parking lot RV park (do have full hookup). Can't wait until we can start pulling that 37' Montana down the road. The couple parked next to us are also full-timers - 7 years - and we're having a great time even though we are just sitting (and still working). Made the decision not to quit jobs until the house closed but sometimes we rethink that. Just not sure! If we don't get moving soon, may have to go buy a new heavy coat.
But, with that said, we're "gonnabees" and soon I hope.

Well, the term "gonnabe" has been used on this Forum for quite some time.
Luvglass is correct in that there are a lot of people that "want" to RV full-time, but never will.
However, we use the term "wannabe" for those that are exploring the full-time RV lifestyle and gathering information. They have not yet converted to "gonnabe" status.
Our goal is help educate the "wannabes" so that they can make a better decision as to whether to become "gonnabes" or not. We hope to convert them all, but as we've said many, many times, it's not for everyone.
