Hello. I am happy to have found this group. My DW (48) and I (36) are in the planning stages. Well, midway through a long planning stage! I started planning on how to snowbird when I was 8, living in northen Michigan, and my grandma spent the winters in Florida. Decided at 8 yo that woman was BRILLIANT, and I was going to be just like her! I chose to become an RN b/c of the opportunity to travel while working (even though I really haven't travelled), and my DW is an RN also. (met her 8 years ago at work when she was on a travel assignment.) We talked about going full-time at that point, but decided we wanted to adopt, and didn't want to be denied b/c we didn't have a house. Wow, this is becoming a long story! We adopted our son 6 years ago (he was 9 yo when we adopted him.) We decided to down-size, sold our house and moved into an RV for 8 months before buying a doublewide on 5 acres in the mountains. We chose this home b/c we could pay cash for it, so we would be afford to keep it as a homebase when we started travelling. We also discovered our child HATED living in the RV, so we could not start full-timing at that time. He had spent years in and out of homelessness, then fostercare and he needed a conventional house with his own room and a place for his stuff. We (DW and I) also discovered we had no problem living in an RV full-time, and liked it just as much as living in a house. Which is good b/c we are both a combination of gypsy, and homebodies. Our son is 15 yo now, and we plan to live in an RV again in the future, after he is independant (don't know if we will keep the house.) If he moves away (through the military or something like that) we will definitely sell, but if he stays in this area we may keep it and have him stay in it, or just keep it. We also have enough land we could help him build his own house on our property. So I am not sure we will ever really "full-time", but I hope to be at least "part-timing" in 8 years or so. Of course if he does join the military at 18 (his current plan) we could be selling in 3 or 4 years. Pinon

Sounds like you may be able to get back to RVing in a few years.

The RV Dreams forums could always use new members because with each new member comes new questions, comments, and perspectives. While we share a similarity in location (Jo and I live in Oklahoma), our experiences will no doubt be more diverse.
Share with us as we all learn from each other. I imagine you have found that this is a very friendly and helpful group.

Thanks! This is a great forum - I am really enjoying the people. It also helps me keep this goal in the forefront of my mind. I, today, am not in a "can't wait" state. I am in a "happy to be here in my life right now" place. Which is good - I have too long to wait to not enjoy today too! Heidi
