Today is day 12 here at Happy Holiday RV Village in Cherokee, NC. We are thoroughly enjoying our stay here nestled in a valley of the Smokies. It is a time of de-stress and recuperation of body and soul after our month in sweltering Missouri and before we start a new job next week in South Carolina. We leave here on the 30th.
We are sleeping so very well and feeling very good, better than we have in all the time we were managing self-storage.
Our Montana is great! We feel very much at home, snug and cozy. Seems our setup evolves a bit each time we move someplace new. The satellite Internet is working out well, also. I have had two people ask me about it here. Seems like they can't get enough of a Verizon signal to use their air card. We have no phone signal (AT&T) but we're online!
We won't have conventional hookups at our work site, so today we had a trial run with the macerator. It works!
Seems we're learning something new about our home, our surroundings and/or ourselves on a daily basis. Life is good!
Cheers to all!

Glad to hear that you're having a great time out there!!
Out of curiosity, what kind of satellite setup do you run?

Hiya Gary,
We have a HughesNet setup we purchased from Maxwell Satellite. We are pleased with it so far! It's just personal preference. I wanted something that would not have to rely on a cell signal and something that was not attached to the rig. Painless setup, even for a 5'2" gal like me! Good luck with whatever you choose.
Cheers, Betty

Glad you are enjoying your stay. It looks like a nice park, but it's a little pricy for my budget. I used to live in Waynesville, NC, so I know the area well. This is a great time of year to stay there. It's a shame you have to leave there before color season.
When in Cherokee I always stay at Ft Wilderness, as I'm a poor broke tramp.
They have a nice quiet CG that has FHU sites with cable and wireless starting for only $225/mo (off season) and $250/mo for 6 months during color season. The last time I stayed there, they honored my Recreation USA club membership and only charged me $10/night (I stayed there one week) during color season. They also honor Passport America and all other clubs. About a year ago they changed hands and raised their prices, but I hear they recently changed hands and lowered their rates.

Hey Chip,
Thanks for the info. Again, different strokes for different folks. The green of this park attracted us . . . I guess whatever it is about a park that resonates with the person is what they want/need. I checked their prices, too. We're paying just about the same with the pay 6 nights, get 7th free deal.
We drove through the local KOA and wondered why anyone would pay their $70 a night to stay there. Nice but not as appealing as where we are and sure not worth $70 to us! Can you imagine? Seventy dollars a night? YOINKS!
Cheers, Betty

Looks like a beautiful place to stay. I bookmarked it for future reference. We are headed the other direction this year but know we will be that direction eventually and love to know the best spots to stay. :)

TXYellowrose,
I know what you mean about different strokes. Hard, strong, unlimited hot water showers are among my highest priority items I look for in a CG. That's why I love staying at Rose Creek CG in Franklin, NC. The park is not much to look at, (but they do have a nice stocked, pay-by-the-lb trout pond and fun gem mining on-site) however their shower is first rate - I could soak in it for an hour! My DW's priority is the gem mining. :) In fact, I'm planning a trip to Helen, GA for the Octoberfest and then on to Rose Creek the second and third week in October.
Before I'd spend $70/night for a flat place to park my little Aliner and a couple bucks worth of electricity, I'd whip out my little generator and boondock, or stay in a motel (Heretic, burn him!). That $70 nightly rate would have to come with a "Happy Ending" for me to stay there. ;)
