We are heading out to fulltime, starting out in Medford Oregon. We will be driving west to Bakersfield, then heading North, and are looking into possible stops on our five day hourney. Does anyone have any tips on campsites? We would also like to boondock as much as possible...any great spots to suggest?

If your coming down Highway 99 you may want to detour east to see the Sequoia Trees in the Sequoia Nat'l Park. If you do stay here http://www.sequoiarvranch.com/ It's very nice and a great staff. I know on I-5 around the I-580 there are some OHV parks, I don't know if they allow overnight stays, but check the California BLM site for campgrounds along your path. Plus the reviews are always good for it. See this site for reviews of campgrounds by RV'ers. It's a great site to find places to stay. Google maps shows it as almost 600 miles, one way. Are you planning to make the entire trip, Medford to Bakersfield and back in 5 days? Anyways, there is a Flying-J fuel station in Chico if you want to drycamp. Rest area's, if they are open, usually allow up to 8 hour stays, look for signs when you pull in. When we travel from California to Oregon we usually stay over at the Yreka RV Park. Nothing fancy, but it's fairly new, and it's close to the train station if you want to take a scenic train ride. When traveling with Flying J as your fueling location, be aware that 26 units of Flying J/Pilot, as a condition of their merger, were rebranded as Love's. The Flying J at Coburg was one of those rebranded as Love's. Those restaraunts at Flying J were also rebranded as Denny's.
