Now that summer is here bugs are a huge problem. When we were here in March you could sit on the grass and never see an ant or a bug, but July in Alabama brings out the little beasts, you can't even walk to your truck without picking up a dozen of them. They're even falling out of the trees.
Is there an insecticide that's safe to spray around the slides without harming the rubber gaskets/seals? TIA

I use the ECOSMART ant & roach spray. It is an organic insecticide and works great!

We've never sprayed anything outside in 4 years of traveling and can't say we've ever had a real bug problem inside. I think the bugs or flies comes in with us or the dog, never had anything that indicated a mass entry.

We just had an attack of ants when we setup in Chula Vista (everybody in the park is complaining about them).
I found two ant trails headed for the 5th wheel outside and sprayed with Raid "country scent" ant & roach spray. I don't know what country they got the smell from but it's unlike any country I've ever smelled. Maybe they were standing in the middle of an oil refinery in Texas when they came up with the scent. It did stop the ants outside.
We still had them inside the RV. I picked up some Raid ant bait, it comes in these small square plastic things you place where the ant trails are. Within two days all ants were gone.
We still get one or two every now and then.

Where in Alabama are you? We're sitting in Tuscaloosa, AL, and we're fighting ants.

We have tried several suggestions from others. Bay leaves scattered inside cabinets seems to help. Talc powder at the base around jacks.

If your in one spot for some time I have mixed powdered ant bait in water and sprayed around the RV. It kills the ants...grasshoppers crickets roaches spiders. I just spray the ground and it works great. I do it twice a month and we don't have any problems outside. Inside I use Home Defense around all the base boards and slides. Ant hotels go in the areas I don't want to spray. We are bug free. Mix ground up garlic in water and spray the area around your patio...keeps the mesquitos away.

We've fought ants on and off, but not a lot at a time. We learned from this forum that you can use comet around the tires, and tie a rag or something small around the hoses that come into the rig. It works. We have to thank the people on this forum and the chat room, (from this journal).
