I am getting noises from my hitch. What type of lubricant do you use? Dry or old fashion grease or some thing I am not aware of that works well with no or little mess.

We put on one of those teflon plates and no more noise. You can get them at just about any RV place.

I use a dry lubricant like a Moly Lube or Teflon Lube. I spray it anywhere there's metal to metal contact on (or in) the hitch.
Keeps everything quiet and doesn't get as dirty as a petroleum based lubricant.
I've also used a synthetic wheel bearing grease when I was out of the dry lube.

We use a teflon plate for the top and for the rest of it we use axle grease. Just a thin schmear like my old man used to use to slick back his hair.
