After planning, discussing, researching and more planning, we are finally retired and began our RV full-time life on June 1, 2010. We couldn't be more happy. One of our main sources of information was found on RV Dreams and it helped us tremendously. Our travels are documented on www.DrivingMissTerry.blogspot.com. Come join us!

Welcome, Mike and Terry.
I just glanced at your blog, but will go back later and read more of it. If you have been lurking for a while, you already know that there are a lot of knowledgeable folks around here. Plus, they are friendly. I've been on here for a couple of years and haven't heard of a fist-fight yet.
Jo and I are just beginning the experience with getting our Mobile Suites last month. Still trying to sell the house and live in the fifth wheel full time until retirement. (5 or 6 years or so, yet.)
Glad to have you around cause we can always use more comments from experienced folks, or new questions from those still learning.

I'm also envious. Wish we were on the road. We have started living F/T in our rig. It's two hard to keep the house ready for showing and live in it. So, since we have our truck and 5 er we found a place to park with full hookups and close to the close. Although we had spent a few nights after we first purchased it in May, we actually moved in on June 10th and are slowly emptying the house.
The house went on the market on 3/15/10 and we have had 2 lookers with 1 offer. However, it was just too low and as hard as we tried meet in the middle, he just wouldn't. I guess it really is a "buyers" market and we're still sitting here with a S & B to sell. However, because of the number of lookers we did make a decision to lower the price by $5,000 yesterday (we did more than that with the one offer we got but still couldn't get a deal made) and, it has now been on the market 100 days. Hopefully this will stimulate more interest. The second looker wanted to come back for a second look but we didn't get the call in time for her to come when she wanted so apparently she wrote us off because of that - these buyers want their way!
So, we're still waiting to hit the road. Also, I'm still working so as to make payments on the RV & truck until the house sells. Then, it will be by by work and hello road.
Just do your research. It took us 6 months to buy the RV.

It looks like you are having fun. We missed you in the Astoria area, we arrived Monday in Ilwaco, WA for two weeks. My in-laws are working the Cape Mears lighthouse, Gregg is doing the talking and Rosalie is running the gift shop when they are on shift. They are from the dry side of Washington, Kennewick.

As I start reading your blog, you present location brings back fond memories. I went through that are back in the early 90's (not in an RV). I thought, at the time, that the Tillamook Cheese Factory tour was interesting. Of course, getting to taste the cheese, at the end, was the best part!
That is really lovely country up there. Enjoy!

Tillamook Cheese Factory also makes great ice cream and has nice RV parking. It is always worth a stop.

What a wonderful journey I just had. Read your blogs from start to finish. Loved 'em. Enjoyed the writing as well as the pics. Living in the Portland area, our favorite destination is the Oregon coast. I signed on to follow you and your adventures, looks like you have a plan. Enjoy.

It took a year to sell our house, and our place was in a "hot" area. Glad it is behind us. Hang in there. It will happen.

Small world, we're from the dry side of Washington -- Richland, Washington. We're enjoying the cool Oregon coast this summer. It's already in the triple digits in Richland!
