I got my notice of new rate as of July 1, 37% increase. I want to join the full time group but this hurts!

Yep, Medicare suplement has leaped upward. Welcome to the world of Obamacare. Can't wait for election time.

When my DH got laid off we got COBRA - because of the American Recover & Reinvestment Act a major portion of our premium was subsidised. The minute he turned 65 we lost the subsidy because he wasn't the primary on the insurance. Now just my premium through COBRA is more that it was for both of us. I haven't received any notice of cost increase above that - I think because COBRA regulates what they charge?????? It also guarantees that I can't be denied coverage because I have a pre-existing condition.
If we go back to CA from ND it will go down over $80! Hmmmmmm. PPO here vs. HMO there. Here we pay 20% of everything I have done. I've never had to pay for mamograms or for some one to stick the needle in my arm for a blood test before, let alone the blood tests. The medical care here is great - but very very expensive for us. This is one of the factors that's driving us to become fulltimers and give up on ND as much as we love it.
