Ira and I have pretty much decided on SD as a state of residence once we hit the road. The plan is to have SD plates on the truck and trailer when we leave Pa. It is my understanding we can do everything long distance except get your actual DL, thus my question. Does anyone know how long you have to change your DL from your old state to SD?
As our hitting the road depends on house selling etc, we are not sure exactly what time of year we will be heading out. If we happen to leave here in Oct or Nov I am hoping to not have to make a run to SD untill winter has passed.
Any info would be appreciated.

We are in the middle of this transistion. We are using MyDakota address for our forwarding service. We did not sign up until after our house sold but we are still living in Indiana in an apartment and a travel trailer until we get through the transition period. You have 90 days technically, after you get your address set up, which is a very fast process. We just purchased a new Truck and 5th wheel and made a quick drive up to get our Drivers License.
Good luck and remember to have fun with the transition.
