I know most of you have pretty much traveled all over the country. What I was wondering was what is the furthest you have traveled from the mainland United States. have you traveled to far Northern Canada or have traveled through South America? Have any of you ever taken a cruise across the Atlantic and then traveled in your RV across Europe?

Like Fred we have been to Alaska and also to the Florida Keys. I know people who have driven their RV all the way to Panama and to the Arctic Ocean in Alaska and the Northwest Territories of Canada. I also know people who have rented or bought RVs to travel in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. I saw one very rugged motorhome in Alaska that had been to about all continents, scroll down my journal entry to see the map and country list on the side of that motorhome.
You can even rent a Class C motorhome on the Big Island of Hawaii. There is no limit.

I was thinking in a year or two getting a seasonal job in Alaska and trying to get up to Prudhoe Bay. I worked in Alaska about 10 years ago and had an opportunity to go to the Artic Ocean but passed it up. I have been kicking myself every since then.

7000 mile trip in 15 days, a big loop from California to Missouri to Michigan and back to visit friends and family. Too much in too little time.

By RV we have traveled (not all the same trip of course): 1. from Tumwater, Washington to Key West, Florida 2. from Tumwater, Washington to Yukon River up the Dalton Highway in Alaska 3. from Tumwater, Washington to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia
On a cruise: 1. from Los Angeles we flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico boarded cruise ship, various islands, through Panama Canal to Acapulco and flew back to Los Angeles
P.S. would love to rent RV in Europe and do that for a couple of months...bucket list item but it will never happen. Oh well.

We were in Scotland fall of 2008. Was quite surprised by the large amount of RVs on the roads and in parks. They were quite small by our standard. They call it Carvaning over there. Looked to be fun.

Furthest trip in one shot was from Miami to Los Angeles. By plane it was Miami to Seattle. This June we are doing the Miami to Anchorage then renting an RV for two weeks.

Flew to London, England took a train to Chester, than to Birmingham. Rented a canal boat ( long narrow houseboat 6-7' wide by 52' long. RV on water) one week, appx 110 mile trip on the canal system. Had to operate the locks on the canal by hand, great time, beautiful scenery, old manor house tours, Birmingham museum of science and industry.

I've been on several cruises around the northern half of the world, on gray ships. Sharon and I went to Argentina and stayed in a villa in Campo de El Paso outside the city of Sante Fe on the Parana River. Been there twice. Also went to Ovalla, Chile about 8 hour drive north of Santiago. We stayed in a campground and later at a beach house in Tongoe.
