I have lurked around on this forum for a while now and it's full of wonderful info. so I thought it time to introduce myself ,,,, my name is Mike , I'm married 30 years come Aug 23rd to my soulmate Debbie, have 3 wonderful boys 28,24,16.... when the 16 is out of school we plan to become full timers. We have decided that a 5er is the way for us, so we spend countless hours looking dreaming and researching. We have a qestion and would love your feedback. We kinda like the 5er with the front living area but there are very very few floor plans that have this and only seen 1 in the last year or so and it wasn't in a mid range or above 5er,,,, could yall give me some of your opinions as to why so few and what are the pros and cons ,,, thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have never actually been in one, with a front LR, but have seen them online. My only concern with that set-up would be that it would seem like 3 little rooms, as opposed to the LR being open to the kitchen/dining area on other floorplans. That's the only real con I can think of, but that's just my personal preference anyway. I am in a similar boat as you, except my youngest is almost 20. He will be living here until he gets out of college, so we have a couple more years to go. Besides that, we just haven't quite figured out medical insurace, and everything I have already figured out may very well change after the vote the other night (and that's all I'm gonna say about that). Anyway welcome. Hope things work out for you.

First, let me welcome you Mike and Debbie. This is a great site because there is great people here to help answer your questions, chat and just all around good folks.
We looked at a couple of models at the last RV show with the front living room. I don't remember the make. I know that (in my opion only), I felt very cramped in those, like the ceiling was coming down. I also want recliner chairs and the ones that I was in only had sofas. I also almost hit my head on the slide part getting in and out of the sofa. Again just my opion and I am sure you will get others. Good luck hunting, and I would suggest getting in as many as possible and picture yourself living in them.
Again welcome to the forum and we look forward to hearing from you again in the future. Don't be affraid to ask anything.

Well, my opinioon of the front living room is slanted, as I have only been in one, once. Like others, I felt it was cramped and my head still hurts when rising from a sofa that was in the slide out. Also, the bathroom was rather cramped, but it may have been the model. It was a Hitchhiker II, so that might have been only a design issue with that one rig.
It seems to me most people like the idea of closing off the front BR when guests come to visit. That way, the bed isn't always in view.
I don't think I will be wanting one.
BTW, welcome to our community. We are polite (most of the time) and all of us have an opinion, just like a nose.

We saw one at the RV show. It was a Keystone Montana, I don't remember the model number. I believe it had five slides.

Keystone Montana makes a nice FL unit with a wrap-around couch. We saw it at a show last month. The head room is definitely lacking where the slides are. But it is a nice unit. It has a conveniently hidden desk in the dining/kitchen area as well.
