Now that we are close to realizing the full time dream, I would like to start a blog. I see that many of you are either at blogspot or my trip journal. I could really use some help deciding which site would be best. I would like to be able to have links at some point with campground reviews, etc. Also, can you have google ads on a blog site or do you need a regular website. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi...doing a blog is fairly easy to get started. I use blogspot but have no info on trip journal. I have google ads on my blog and they were easy to attach. Blogspot has good step-by-step directions for most every aspect of adding gadgets. You can also add links to other websites on your blog's sidebar. Maybe the best way to figure out what you would want to do on your own blog would be to read several other blogs to find layouts you prefer. Hope this helps a little bit. Perhaps another poster here has into on trip journal for you.

I switched to Blogger recently and like it. Yes, you can have Google ads; I do.
I also use Windows Live Writer to compose the posts and then publish them to my Blogger site. I had some problems publishing when there were photos included in the original Live Writer composition but easily added them through Blogger once the post was published. I just went into Blogger, selected editing the post and then inserted the photo.
Anyway, if you check out the two sites I've listed, you can see the differences in what you can do, layout, etc.
What you use is really a matter of preference. If you want, send me a PM with questions; I'll be happy to help if I can.

here is a link to Geeks on Tour website which has a free tutorial on setting up and maintaining a blog. http://www.geeksontour.com/blogger.cfm They have lots of computer info on their site and teach classes on various computer related topics. They are (in my opinion) the computer experts in the RV world. They even give classes at various RV rallies including the upcoming RV Dreams Rally.

We follow a lot of blogs but have never started up one of our own until now. I would highly recommend using Blogger. It's very easy to use and gives you step-by-step instructions.
The first thing you want to do is set yourself up a Gmail account. Blogger now requires a Gmail account to be able to set up a blog on their site.
Blogger will walk you through the steps to set up the blog. Be patient as it takes time to get comfortable with finding where everything is. And as Phil Bob mentioned if you get stuck you can always refer to the GeeksOnTour website for additonal information.

Just a suggestion. You might want to consider your own website. I think they are better than a blog and offer more options and space for pictures and journels.
Some email hosts provide that as a service for free or little cost. Their desgin software is simple to use.
