Sorry for your loss. It's hard to let them go even when you know it's the best thing for them.

So sorry to hear about your loss. We just went through the same thing in August with my sweet Molly. You can read about my tribute to her on our journal - August 22 or thereabouts.
I am thinking about you and certainly understand the hurt in your heart today.

I am sorry for your loss as well. People who have never had pets don't understand how much they become members of the family, and how emotionally crushing it is to let them go, even when you know it's the best thing for them so that they don't suffer unnecessarily.
I went through it again last October with my wife's last cat. She had three when we were married, and they were already old. After Robyn's accident the last cat went into a slow motion health nose dive. I tried desperately to keep her healthy so she would be here when my wife finally came home, but that was not to be.
Nobody will ever be able to convince me that this cat didn't sense how things were going to turn out, and was grieving for her 'Mom'.
It may sound silly to some, but I have no doubts that Molly went all the way across the Rainbow Bridge because her Mom was already there waiting for her.

Betty,
Please know many share your loss, even thought they did not know your "Baby".
I heard from a wise person that the reason dogs do not live as long as humans is that it takes more than one dog to teach humans all they need to know about loving others.

It's a brave thing you've done letting her go, but the right thing. Our thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
I had to let go of my sweet Brandy, a miniature poodle, who had been my constant companion for 14 years. It was so difficult and I still cry when I think of her. The veterinarian who helped sent me a card with the "Rainbow Bridge" story on it. I don't know for certain if that little ditty is true but my heart does so hope that it is. I believe that there are angels that live among us and I know that you have lost one that can never be replaced. That kind of unconditional love can never be replaced.

A very heartfelt thank you to all who have responded to this post and for sharing your stories.
Dave and I are doing a little better every day. It's still strange to listen for her paws clicking down the hall...that sort of stuff....but time will help that.
I know in my heart it was time and she was ready, and that I will see her again.
Cheers all! Betty

I have not post much but had to here. I had to put my buddy down a few years ago it is amazing how often I think of him. We have a new member now and he is a dandy.
I am trying to say sorry it really does hurt.

We also had a Rainbow Bridge crossing day after Thanksgiving we had to put our little Rahma down. This little guy was an apple of my eye the BEST dog ever. He got to travel 3 yrs with us full timing. He would always look for me when we came back to the RV after being out for errands and would come around to my side of the jeep looking for me. Both Bob and I are sorry for your loss and we still are having memories and tears here...we have had to adopt another dog and still have Rio. southwestjudy
I have not been around the last couple of days, as our elderly dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.
I invite you to read about "Baby" at http://phoenixonceagain.blogspot.com
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
So very sorry for your loss.
