We have been lurkers since September 20 when Gary, my husband, and I decided that we had no more time to waste. I found RV-Dreams and read every journal entry from the beginning. We will be fulltimers this spring and plan on attending the RV-Dreams Rally in SC.
This was a decision based on #1 boredom - we've both been retired for 4 years, moved to beautiful Sarasota, FL, became NAUI certified, traveled to dive (still love it) joined the US Power Squadron, boated and loved it, and then it happened. Decision #2: Gary was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer that looks kind of like eczema but uglier. It was treated initially by PUVA light sessions, but has gotten out of hand. The answer is full body electron radiation which we anticipate begins this month, lasts 10 weeks appx, then hopefully it will go into remission. THEN we will move forward like lightning renting our house, selling our car, outfitting our jeep, buying a MH and filling it up, (a few garage sales thrown in, don'tchaknow) and we'll be headed to SC to learn how to do this thing called fulltiming.
In the meantime, we bought a SeaEagle 380x on the advice of Crystal, (THANK YOU HOWARD) and we christened it today on the Myakka River. Shortly after our launch, two kayakers came closer to us and after we talked about the MANY alligators we were seeing, John Shea and his partner, Ed, assured us that they would not bother us. They loved the SeaEagle because John said he needed a kayak to fulltime with and the hard boats just were too difficult to manage. FULLTIME??? Oh, yes, he and his wife, Terri, are planning to fulltime in a couple of years. Of course he was a member of this forum - can you believe it - and we met on a river!!! All coincidences point us in the north star direction. (Google: Martha Beck) That's enough for now. Look forward to talking with all you great people out there!

First of all, welcome to the forums and the RV Dreams online family. (Some of whom become face to face friends when attending one of the RV Dreams rallys.)
Second, our thoughts and prayers go to you during Gary's treatments, and we will also hope for remission and recovery.
Feel free to ask questions. If you've lurked as much as many of the others of us have, you have already found out that this is an excellent source of information from a wide range of different RV'ers. Howard and Linda's forums are some of the most active that I have found.
Good luck in all your research and choosing.
Terry

Welcome aboard! I hope Gary's treatments are totally successful!
Funny, we're all led by different circumstances but one thing is a common denominator - to live life fully & puposefully. We too are moving toward fulltiming so maybe we'll meet down the road on some river somewhere. Or maybe on a mountainside, a lake, a seaside, a national park,....somewhere in our RV Dreams.
Good luck with all of your planning!

Thank you, Terri and Jo! It may sound like we have everything planned, but in reality, we don't know how to do any of this. I'll be looking for great answers from all you knowledgable people on this forum.

Thanks, Bob, It's amazing that we never thought of doing this before, but the minute it popped into our heads, it felt 'right'. So, we will see how things unfold for us. Thanks for your encouragement! We;re going to need all we can get!

Welcome.
There are some here who have done what you have done, just decided to go fulltime and started the countdown and have been very happy with the decision. Others made the decision after taking RV trips, like us. We have been fulltimers for over six years now and do not see an end to it.

Welcome to the forum.
Good luck with the treatments.
Glad you have decided to come to the Rally. You should be able to pick up a lot of information and in the process meet some of the great folks that make up the RV-Dreams family.
See you there,
Jim

Well hello again, I see that you made it back to dry land ok and the gators left you alone. I hope that you both had a good trip. Did the Sea Eagle continue to perform the way you wanted it to? It is still hard to think that we met in the middle of the Myakka River and that we were both tied to a great couple (Howard and Linda) and this forum. I went home and told my wife about our meeting and she was just amazed. We look forward to meeting you at the rally and will keep up with you here on the forum until then.
