I am not a full timer yet, but the clock is ticking! The 5er is ready!
My partner and I have been making plans for almost two years to hit the road in the spring of 2010. WE bought a new 2007 Holiday Rambler, Alumascape 5th wheel and a used 2004 Chev. 3500 pickup. We have made some interior changes to the 5er to better suit our needs. We have been holding regular garage sales to rid ourselves of stuff we no longer need.
However we have hit a bit of a road block when we discovered in August that my Mother had breast cancer. She had surgery in Sept. and is currently undergoing chemo treatments until March. Needless to say, we are still doing what we can to prepare for our full timing life between chemo treatments. We will be able to pursue our dream as soon as Mother is back on her feet.

Oh you are so close! Good for you... I pray that your Mom is back on her feet soon. It is so wonderful that you are able to be there for her right now. When you are able to FT at last, you will not regret a moment!

You are doing the right thing by postponing your plans for a few months. We had our plans derailed for 8 years while we cared for 3 ailing parents. (you should not have this long a delay) When it was all "over" we were very glad we stayed home to take care of our parents...and I know our parents were glad for the support, comfort and care we gave them during this stressful and scary time in each of their lives.
God Bless You....you'll have such a great feeling when your Mom's chemo is over and you drive off to begin your new adventure.

Denise ~
Best wishes for your mom and we'll all hope for a quick recovery. Hold tight to your dreams. It seems like there are a lot of diversions out there which cause us to second guess ourselves. We're also hoping to start our adventure in the Spring of 2010, so we hope to see you out there soon. In the meantime, know that you have a lot of virtual support from a great family!

Denise,
Welcome to the RV Dreams community - it is a great place! We are full-time dreamers in southern New Mexico and have a 2007 35' Alumascape Suite.
I visited your blog and enjoyed seeing the redecorating you have done to yours. I went back in your posts and saw lots of great photographs. What kind of camera are you using?
We hope for a speedy recovery for your mom.

Our prayers are with your mother. It is good that you can be there to support her during this time of her life. We hope that it won't be long until she is well. I believe you are doing the right thing to continue to prepare for fulltiming while you are there with your mother. We wish you the best.
God bless,
Allan and Jeanne

Like many others, let me offer our thoughts for your mother's recovery. As many of us have had family members or friends touched with cancer, we kind of understand what you are going through.
