Hello Everyone! Just wanted to say hi! I've been researching RVing for awhile now and am getting closer to my goal of becoming a full-timer. I purchased a 2001 F350 CrewCab Dually last summer...I chose the Triton V10...what an amazing motor. I've been looking at NewMar and Nu-Wa fifth wheels.
Any thoughts?
I hope to sell the land-locked house this spring. Even if I don't get it sold this year, I still REALLY like driving the truck and it's nice having two vehicles. And I can always use a trailer for weekend trips (and when the power goes out :)
Wish everyone Safe Travels!

Welcome to the forum, Traci. Glad to have you aboard.
It sounds like you've got a nice truck to pull a 5th wheel with. I'm sure some of the forum members can give you some advice on the different brands.

Traci...sorry we are so late in saying hi but we both work and don't get to read very often...when we do we try to cover all the post we can. Joe and I live full time in our RV and did when we had the house on the market. We found out we could save a ton of money not running up the bills in the house. We live in Carrollton and pay $450.00 a month for Water sewer and electric...can't beat that and it is one third what it cost us in the house. We saved a bucket of money while the house was up for sale and when it sold we saved another bucket of money on taxes. We wish you the best and if we can be of any help please give us a shout.

Shenist,
Welcome to the forum. This is an excellent source for information.
First of all, the following list is of manufacturers of RV that have or are going out of business. Based in the source where I found it, it was last updated on January 13, 2009:
Alfa Leisure Ameri- Camp Bigfoot Chinook Dolphin Extreme RV King of the Road National RV NuWa Industries Pilgrim International PLAY-MOR Sun Valley Inc. Sunline Coach Teton Homes Trail Wagons TravelSupreme Weekend Warrior Western RV Inc West Coast Leisure Homes
I found this for you since NuWa is one of the companies listed.
Now, going beyond that, my wife and I live between Mustang and Tuttle, Oklahoma. Roughly where in Oklahoma do you live? If you are close enough, perhaps we can get together?

Wow, everytime I see the complete list of RV Companys that have gone out of business it seems to get longer. What a shame because there are some really good companys that made some very good products on that list.

In November I bought a 2004 Nu Wa Hitchhiker II LS, and 2002 Ford F-350 diesel, dually. I am very happy with what I have, although it is in need of cleaning up because it sat in storage on a lot in NJ for 2 yrs, neglected. I'm waiting for the weather to get warmer so I can get to the exterior.
With so many companies closing their doors, I believe we'll be left with the very expensive models (out of my reach) and a lot of mfrs that just throw it together and get it out there at a price many people can afford. I would rather have my 2004 HH II, than some 2008/2009 models from companies that have always cut corners to maximize their bottom line. I think if you are willing to buy a gently used model that's in good condition, you probably won't go wrong. Of course if you can afford the higher end models from mfrs still in business, then go for it.

Traci, We also live in Oklahoma, up at Grand Lake on Monkey Island. We will be putting our home on the market this spring and hope to go full time by fall. Let me know what you decide to do about and RV. We are looking at 5th wheels 30' and under. Unfortunately we will have to wait for the house to sell before we buy. Keep in touch! Christy and Paul

Hello Everyone! I live near Ft-Gibson Lake and commute 1 hr each way to work in Tulsa (Seemed like a good idea at the time) I have an RV park picked out near Oologah lake called The Outpost...this will cut my commute in half...my sister's inlaws are pipeliners and they stay there when not out on a job...it's very nice.
I do plan to invest in a used RV...and I am amazed at the number of manufacturers that are going out of business. Even the President made a special effort to go to Elkheart, Indiana (spelling?) where layoffs have hit hardest. I have to admit at least the NuWa folks are making a graceful exit by continuing to honor warranties, etc for the next 2 years.
I'm hoping to get to Dallas the weekend after Valentine's Day so I can go to the RV show...I'm curious to see what they have there.
Mustang and Tuttle are south of OKC aren't they? If you get up to Ft Gibson, Grand, or Eufaula give me a hollar and I'd be happy to come visit.
