Hey, My wife and I are planning to become fulltimers as soon as possible. Our orinal plan was 24 mos. or less. Now it is by summer 09.We bought a home in phoenix and a travel trailer less than 2 yrs. ago. We decided we like the travel trailer best. In what order did you start getting rid of things and how?

Welcome! You will find that RV-Dreams is a great community and a terrific source of information for soon-to-be fulltimers.
As far as getting rid of stuff is concerned...for me this was the least pleasant part of beginning the fulltiming process. We all tend to hold onto things we don't use or don't need. My advice is if you haven't used it in the past 12 months and it doesn't hold any sentimental value then get rid of it NOW. ...sell it, give it away, donate it, recycle it, or toss it if you have to.
You also need to start thinking about how much space you have and what you want to take with you. Prioritize your list and when its possible try to move as much as you can into the RV to see how the space situation is. The space fills up fast!
I gave away most of my kitchen items to friends and family because I didn't use most of them enough to justify the space they would take up in the RV.
Good luck on your journey. Colleen

We start FTing to three months. The hardest part is throwing out years and years of birthday, anniversary, etc cards. I had 2 drawers full. I finally bit the bullet and tossed them last week. Still have wedding cards and sympathy cards from when Dad died. I know they have to go too and they will. Someday.

We hope to take off in 87 days (but who's counting!). We have sold the house and we are renting it back while the other couple tries to sell their house. It works grreat because it gives me some time to work on the stuff....but then again it gives me too much time to procrastinate! We started by cleaning out all we didn't want or need and gave it to the Lions club and my parents church for their fundraising auctions. Then we had an auction house come in and take out all the antiques we were willing to part with (we are keeping a few special things in storage as we know eventually we will have to settle back down). My job now is to sort, scan, and reduce all of the pictures. But somehow I keep putting it off until tomorrow! Good luck and welcome to a great future!!

Welcome to the best forum on web! We too are working towards our fulltiming dream. I just hope this economy doesn't slow our progress.
