This will be our first year on the road for Thanksgiving. We were wondering what plans people have for the Big Day? We always like leftovers, and we think it'll take a week to cook everything in our tiny oven to be ready for dinner!
First of all, reserve your campground asap - We were shocked last year (our first major holiday on the road) at how fast the warm climate campgrounds fill up. We were able to find a 9 lb. turkey and it fit perfectly in our microwave/convection oven. I set it to roast in the combo mode and it was done before I even started to think about peeling the pototoes. It will depend on what type of cooking equipment you have, but we had a splendid dinner with plenty of leftovers for the two of us. We already have our reservations this year in Florida and we plan to look for another SMALL turkey. Just enjoy your travels and let me be the first the wish you "Happy Holidays on the Road".

We've got reservations for the week at America's Best Campground in Branson, MO. We missed the RV Dreams Rally there last June, but better late than never. The CG is having a Pot Luck Thanksgiving Dinner, they supply the turkey and everyone else brings a dish to share. Looking froward to it.
Best Regards!

We cook our turkey in a cutoff 30 gallon drum that we use for campfires. We use charcoal briquets, and wait 'til they turn white. We place a foil covered grill on top of the drum.
Place the turkey covered in butter and spices on top of the grill and then cover it with a heavy foil dome crimped onto the grill to seal in the heat. Nice little oven to cook a big turkey and not get the rv hot.
Also have used our propane powered turkey deep fryer....very tasty bird.

We'll be the same place as we were last year The Escapee CARE center in Livingston Tx. The staff has the day off so the Volunteers do all the cooking. The residents also add there favorite dish.

I received a pleasant call at work yesterday, my DW called to say she had just made reservations from the 26th through the 30th at the Outdoors Resort in Aguanga, CA. across the road from the SKP park.
We stayed there right after it was first built and had a great time. Now the resort is nearly complete and been around for about 10 years so all the trees are big and shady.
The amenities include 14 hole golf course, fishing pond, swimming pools, restaurant and lots of big grassy areas along with several waterfalls, streams.
It is a park where the spaces are privately owned and the folks have built elaborate outdoor patios on many of the sites.
In the area are wineries, casinos and it's about 90 minutes from all that San Diego has to offer.
I'm looking forward to 4 days of relaxing and eating.....
My DW will be roasting a Paula Dean Turkey Breast along with all the usual fixings.

Sounds for sure, Larry
. . . you are going to get the bear's share of Thanksgiving food, wine and amenities! Do you shoot 72 on a fourteen hole course and call it "scratch golf"?

I usually shoot 140 plus lose about 5 golf balls and still call it fun.....
I guess the fee is $25 for the day, play as many holes as you like or can stand.
In between eating I will hit the links a few times while there...need to improve my short game.
