Hello! Just found your forum (we love community forums like these) and wanted to introduce ourselves. We are Dan, Jennifer, Mason (8) and Griffin (6) Taylor and while we are on the road fulltime for the next 18 months or so, we are "Driven to Educate". I was working as an Air Traffic Controller and Dan was a stay at home Dad homeschooling our boys. Out of nowhere I got sick - started getting dizzy all the time, and was eventually forced to retire early (I'm only 36!!). When I realized that I would be drawing a pension (that includes medical insurance) I started thinking about the opportunities that it might give us, and studying American History on the road was the first thing that came up - we LOVE homeschooling. We think of this as a once in a lifetime opportunity, because eventually Daddy will find a job and we'll settle back down. We'll have to. My pension is higher the first year but drops off significantly the second year. It won't be enough to support us. We've been on the road since March 9th. You can follow us on www.driventoeducate.com Our goal is to share what we're learning about American History with other homeschooling/roadschooling families and to provide tips for people going on educational vacations. Glad to have found your forum. We hope to develop some friendships here and learn from you.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Wish I had known about you when, in the first 2 weeks, our fridge broke, the awning motor quit working (while it was still out) and we broke a tow strap. I could have used a little encouragement and advice then:) Thankfully Dan is very mechanically inclined and he got us fixed up and moving again. We're in a 2005 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 40 PLQ that we had modified. We had the sitting area in the rear gutted and put bunk beds back there for our boys. Works perfectly!
