Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have seen many recent posts about the 2010 Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa, so I thought I'd post some details and let everyone know that Linda & I plan to attend.
We will be there on Thursday, January 14 (originally it was Wed, Jan 13th). We'll be driving in rather than staying. But if anyone wants to get together, maybe we can have a little RV-Dreams "meet and greet" at a designated time and location.
Perhaps someone that lives in the area could help coordinate.
It is one of the top three RV shows in the country - maybe the best.
Here are the details from the website.
Show Name: 2010 Florida RV SuperShow
Dates: Wednesday, January 13 - Sunday, January 17, 2010
Times: Wed-Sat 9am-6pm Sun 9am-5pm
Admission: Adults $8.00 (2 day pass) children under 16 free
Discounts: Wednesday is seniors citizen's day - $1.00 off
Location: Florida State Fairgrounds - Interstate 4 and U.S. Highway 301 - Tampa
Seminars: Bob Marx (10 tips for choosing an RV and RV Travel and camping tips) also basic RV maintance tips
We can be there on opening day, too. We'll be at Little Charlie Creek RV Park at Wauchula, FL, about 67 miles for us to drive. Like the idea of a "mini RV-Dreams meet and greet."
We leave this COLD Illinois weather on Dec 27.
Look forward to seeing some of you in Tampa.

We are also looking to attend this show. We are going to drive down from Northern Wisconsin in our SUV to visit my sister in Daytona and drive over to the show from there. Let me know if anyone comes up with a meeting time and place. We would like to meet fellow RV-Dreamers

I'm pretty sure that we'll be there too - probably arrive Friday night & stay till Monday. It sure sounds like fun to get together with some fellow RV-Dreamers.
We'll be drifting up that way from the Keys not sure if we'll make the 13th or not. I think not I think we pull out of Marathon on the 12th which will put us in Tampa on the weekend.
It's a 300 mile round-trip for us, but we're thinking about coming up. Getting a chance to meet Howard, Linda and some other RV Dreamers would be worth all the driving!
Unfortunately, our favorite 5th wheel manufacturer, NuWa, will not have a presence this year. They rely on their dealers to participate and Tradewinds in Ocala has decided not to attend.
Our plans are written in jello, so not a problem to change to Thursday. Left Camping World/Lazy Days at Seffner yesterday after having some extensive work done on the motorhome.
Always look forward to meeting up with RV-Dreamers.

We will plan on being there on the 14th. We are enroute,as I write, to Leesburg,Fl for 3 months. Will check this sight for any updates... BTW,we will be at the Holiday RV Resort,Leesburg,Fl if anyone is nearby, let us know. Drsmom@aol.com Maryann and Bill
Gene and I will be attending the Tampa RV show Wednesday through Friday. We're really looking forward to meeting other followers of Howard and Linda's amazing website. Since we've only just begun to RV in November, everything is still so fresh and exciting and getting to know other fulltimers is the best part. Not bringing our rig but driving up from Cutler Ridge at Larry and Penny Thompson Park. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Joe Huber driving in from Kentucky for the meet and greet. 837 miles any prize for driving the farthest??? Went to this show last year and loved it. Looking forward to it. Too cold and snow up here.
We'll see you all at the Tent Thursday morning at 11.
We're over in Melbourne, FL at my mother's Airstream park. (Yea, they let us in with a 5'er.) We'll be here about 3 weeks total before going to some Florida SP's.
We'll drive over Thursday morning. Sorry we'll miss the dinner the night before. We don't do motels except in a serious emergency :)
Hi all...we plan to be there! Doug and JoAnn...are you nearby? We are in Tampa, headed to Webster this weekend, but coming back for the show. Weds dinner sounds good to us...do you have a plan?? Looking forward to seeing everyone!
For those that only read the Forum and not the Journal .... Gasp!!! - just kidding , I announced that we might try to do an RV-Dreams dinner on Wednesday evening January 13 for those that are interested.
So far it looks like we have four couples. If anyone else is interested, post it here.
And any suggestions of locations would be greatly appreciated! Come on Tampa area folks, give us some hints within say 10 miles of the fairgrounds or possibly in the Busch Gardens area. Depending on numbers, we may need a place with a large, separate room, but not at this point.
Hi Howard...looking forward to dinner and meeting everyone!! We had ribs at The Oaks Bar & Grill in Tampa, not too far from the fairgrounds last week with some friends.....they had All U Can Eat BBQ Ribs...$8.99 and they were delicious! The service was great! The dining room was pretty large and not very crowded that night; I think it was on a Tuesday . I don't remember the Wednesday special. It could be a possibility. There are lots of good restaurants in Brandon, about 10 minutes away. Anything is fine with us, or if you want us to search out something, let us know. There is a Cracker Barrel here at Lazy Days and a Bob Evans too, and the Hampton Inn and Country Inn here are wonderful, for lodging. If you get here early enough, come over for Happy Hour. Sounds like great fun!! Look forward to seeing y'all!
Just responding to Howard's request for "Tampa" people to speak up about places to eat. --- When we lived in the Brandon area the only resturant we remember was McDonnalds. :)
Around Bush Gardens - about all we had was "Master Pizza."
It has really changed a lot in the last 30 years and 40 since we were at USF.
Now, if you really want a top notch meal, try Bern's Steak House in Tampa - (813) 251-2421 · 1208 S Howard Ave, Tampa.
You will need reservations and you can blow the next 2 months eating out budget. Also, there is sort of a dress code. Check the site. But that is one fine place if you want something pretty special. Been there many times in the past with Linda.

Howard we will not make it down there for Wed night dinner, but are hoping to make it for the Thursday meet. We were hoping to leave Northern Wisconsin on Sat morning but my wife’s grandmother passed away yesterday and we will need to attend the funeral on Monday evening then heading out at around 6:30 pm. We are driving straight through to Daytona and then coming to Tampa Thursday morning.
Everyone have a great dinner and we will see you on Thursday!!

We're Tampa natives and around Busch Gardens you can pick of many restaurants... Ruby Tuesdays, Appleby's, Red Lobster, Olive Gardens....many more..we'll put our thinking caps on and try to remember some more.
Around the Fairgrounds there is the Hard Rock Casino

Pat and I are in Palmetto Florida (about 1 hr from the fairgrounds) and we are planning to drop in for the meet and greet at the RV show. We are interested in moving from our small Diesel Pusher MH to a 5th wheel so maybe we can get a few tips at the show.
You can check out some of our travels since we first met you in Clearwater in 2007 at ronlowephotography.com in the travel gallery (not all the trips were in the RV).
By the way, Pat and I have stayed in Wellaka twice the past couple of years at the Lazy Daze RV park down the road from where you are staying. Really old Florida and lot of gators (not the football type).
See you Thursday,
Ron and Pat Lowe

We were planning to drive up from Naples for the day on Thursday. However, other priorities will prevent us from making the trip. Too bad, we would really have enjoyed meeting you two, plus all the other members of the RV-Dreams family!
Being the oldest members of your RV-Dreams family (We believe), and spending the winter in Arcadia, FL, Marie and I thought we had better get over to meet you and other members at the Tampa show on Thurs. We are looking forward to the occasion.

My husband is Ira and I am Vicky....my user name, Ivey, is a meshing of our first two initials.
I found the RV-Dreams blog about 6 months ago and started reading from the first. Interesting reading and often quite humorous. We have been lurking on this site for a few months now, well me more than Ira. The past few nights I have discovered a few people in the chat room too and that has been fun.
A year ago we bought our first RV, a Jayco 5th wheel. Of course we are already looking for something larger. We are attending the show in Tampa on Thursday and would love to meet up with a few people and put some faces to the names I see on the forum.
We will try to find the Seminar Tent in the Lakeside South area. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Ira and Vicky

Hi Susan (or is that HogLady? :)) The Show had lots of vendors...not as many as in the "boom" years, but more than last year. There were some good deals on some accessory items, if you shopped around, and some not-so-good ones too! As always, there were many booths selling RV lots in private resorts, etc. Seems to be so many of them out there! There were lots of RV's there too; only went in a few of those. Nothing truly new or exciting there. But it's always fun to spend time around these "RV things" to see what toys we do not have, as yet!!!
And it was very nice to meet up with lots of the folks from this website and with Howard and Linda....lots of nice folks out there and it was great meeting all of you who joined us that morning...!!! Happy trails to all until we see you on the road again!! HUGS! M&B
We spent the final day of the show and what a beautiful day all the way around. It was really nice for us this year since we were not shopping for an RV!
Our friends were interesting in a Class C so we spent a good bit of time in and out of those RV's.
It did seem like there were a lot of "sold" signs and most sales reps were saying that sales had been good all weeek!
It certainly seems like it is definitely competion among the survivors.
I also was surprised at the number of vendors "selling lots" as well as Class A Motor Coach only resorts.
It was a nice day of walking for exercise and looking and more looking. We are very happy with our choice of our current RV and if we could only join the full time set....someday.
It seems to me that there isn't a lot of talk about the Tampa show, we were there last year and there was a lot of interest and talk about the Tampa Show. Also the sold signs sometime are just a gimmick to make you think they are selling a lot of RV's. GBY...

We just checked the forum and noticed that there is a dinner at Olive Garden on Wednesday night, 1/13, at 6:00 for the RV Dreamers. Is it too late to sign up? Charley and I would very much like to join you.
The post you have been reading about Dinner at Olive Garden was for 2010.
No plans have been made for dinner this year.
We are having a meet & greet on Thursday 13th starting at 11:00 at the Floating Restaurant. Howard and I will be there at 11:00 and will stay for a couple of hours.
Dinner plans may happen for that night, but nothing has been finalized.
