Holding tanks and disposable wipes.
(Preview)
Hi, Everyone, While reading posts on another forum I was reminded of a problem we had with an old RV. It was a '91 Gulfstream 3880. Being used when we got it I expected problems, however, not this one. The black tank would not drain! I tried everything. Spraying water into the drain... I even made a press...

RV Washing

I have heard that people use truck stop truck washes to keep their RV clean and looking new. Is this a true statemet? Is it like a car wash where you just pull through? Thanks for your feedback.

Batteries: Interstate vs Duracell/Deka
(Preview)
I'm going to replace the original battery that came with my TT with two 6V golf cart batteries. Sam's Club has the Duracell brand made by Deka in PA, rated at 215 Ah. Costco has Interstate, rated at 210 Ah. Same price, Costco a little more convenient. Any opinions on which is better? Thanks!

How frequently do you exercise your generator?
(Preview)
I have an Onan 5500 propane generator installed in the coach. It's new, like the 5th wheel, and has about 25 hours on it. I've been running it for about 10-15 minutes every few months. It always starts promptly and runs great. Does that sound like the right way to ensure it stays healthy? -- Edited by...

Gray Tank Cleaning
(closed)
(Preview)
Is there anything that will clean the gunk off the inside of a gray tank? We have the See Level ultrasonic level indicators that New Horizons installs…and although they're better than the float type sensors they still indicate wrong when the sides of the tank get gunked up. I've tried using the built...

How to sanitize the fresh water tank???

First, I will briefly vent. Theoretically, we are leaving to full time Friday morning, less than 48 hours. And, campgrounds that use a white hose for non potable water at their dump stations should be locked in a room with fourteen female cats in heat for a week. OK. I have a 2011 Berkshire DP. Cleaning Black Tank
(closed)
(Preview)
We're getting ready to move next week and would like to clean our black tank. I'm sure I once read a post where someone, maybe Lucky Mike?, gave directions for using ice and Dawn, I think it was, in the holding tank while moving. But, of course, I can't find that thread! So, can someone, or even everyone...

So the serviceman came today to replace the solonoid valve but discovered that wasn't the problem -- it was a pinhole leak in the ice maker water line. Black Tank Burp

I have read many threads that refer to the "black tank burps" as an indicator of when it's time to dump it. I, too, experience this and have begun using it as my indicator of dump time. Opinions on vanity sinks that have raised bowls(vessel sinks).

As we weigh various rigs in our search, one thing that pops up in some mfrs designs is raised bowl or vessel sinks in the bathrooms. To me they would seem to be a potential maintenance risk (yeah I know, what isn't in a rolling earthquake zone) It just seems to me that a surface mounted or undermounted sink...

I have heard that it is considered a "best practice" to turn the water water off at the source whenever you leave your rig.
