Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Campground Hobbies and whatnot

I know Linda has her beading work that she does, but was wondering if some of you fulltimers can tell what you like to do as far as hobbies go and whatnot.

I noticed a guy here where we are now does woodworking crafts and has a slide under his RV that pulls out has a drill press, band saw (small) and a small air compressor mounted in the basement area...how KOOL!!

We have recently purchased a Sea Eagle 9 (thanks to Howard's posting on these) inflatible boats) and are anxiously waiting for its arrival ...that will keep us busy.

Some like fishing, art work, hiking, biking, and the list goes on and on. Oh and I forgot another is watching all back our fivers into campground sites

Greetings,

We like a lot of things but I am most often occupied with programming or photography. My wife scrapbooks and has a doll collection and sewing machines on board to work with.

Paul is involved in photography. (I think he is secretly trying to kill me hiking up and down mountains to find waterfalls to take pictures) He has taken some fantastic photos. I like to do a little sketching and enjoy practicing different techniques. Have tried using pastels and have found it fun to work with. I also enjoy doing one stroke painting. Paul and I both enjoy riding our TRIKKE's and Gizzy loves to run along with us. When he gets tired (usually after about 1/2 mile) he gets to ride in the back pack and leave the driving to me. Gizzy's hobby is chasing squirrels.

I enjoy reading, quilting, and blogging. I also create post cards from our travels to send to those who don't have internet. We like to ride our bikes and surf the net to research the area we staying in or future destinations.

It is harder for Paul who had to leave his woodworking tools behind and also his gardening...although he doesn't miss weeding! I'm hoping he'll pick up his paint brushes again...he's a great painter and he enjoys enhancing pictures in Adobe Photoshop.

We've planning to start geocaching. It is someting you can do anywhere, anytime and sounds like lots of fun and as challenging as you want it tackle. Check out geocaching.com to learn more about it.

I enjoy woodcarving, photography, and reading.  I also keep a blog with pictures for family and friends.  I've been known to hit a golf ball too, but not well!!!

The wife makes cards using a technique called "tea bag folding" or "Iris" folding I think it is called.  She likes to read and enjoys needle point.

We are full timers who love this lifestyle, the travel and the friends we are making.

Sounds like the inflatable boats are becoming quite popular!  Maybe we should have an inflatable boat regatta someday........  We've got individual catarafts and just love them.  We're looking forward to spending more time with them next year when we're done working fulltime and can join the rest of you out there having fun!!!

I loved growing flowers when we had our home and miss it.
Well now I have decided to get one of the shepard hooks that I see so many of in the front of rv's or along side them in the pks. Lots of flowers now growing in Tucson where we now are and tomorrow I shall be shopping for a hook and hanging baskets. I was wondering if any here still grows flowers when full timing? I do have a Hosta plant that was in our home that now travels with us and is blooming once again, so it must like full timing also.

Hi Judy,

I haven't tried this but I have heard of others doing this:
They take a large bag of potting soil and poke holes in it.  Put your seeds in the holes and watch them grow.  It is a portable garden.

I am taking up cooking...I love food and I always wanted to cook new dishes. Also like my inflatable boat and fishing. I too have a woodshop at our base camp but I want to try some new hobbies while on the road.

My hubby likes to tinker (fix things).  So that is why we are going to get an enclosed trailer to tow behind our MH.  To carry his tools and our motorcycle.  He'll probably be the guy that gets the knock on the door at the CG to help someone out with a problem.  I play guitar and sew.smile
