Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

diesel fuel filling adapters

Well, I just read Howard's journal for today. I re-read the part on filling up at the trucker's pumps at big interstate stations. We have a GMC duramax 2500. We have alot of trouble fitting those bigger nossels into our tank to fill up. I know they must make adapters for private-truck tanks.

We were wondering if others use adapters when filling up at the trucker's pumps (which are so much easier to get in and out of)? Where can you purchase these at?

Hi,
We have a 2006 Ford F350 and the large nozzles fit in our opening just fine. The only problem I have is the trucker pumps fill much faster than normal and you have to be careful of the automatic shut off spitting back.

If the nozzle doesn't fit in your tube, I wouldn't attempt to modify it.

I know nothing about this stuff, but I did find kits at the following link for GM trucks: http://www.transferflow.com/gm_fillneck_kits.html

On the older Ford trucks - at least on my 2000 F550 - the metal lip could be ground out with a dremel to make it the proper size for the big truck nozzles. Just make sure you remove the hose from the line before you do this - you don't want metal in your tank!! It was easy to remove, grind and put back. The line is more than big enough to take the speed of most of the pumps, but you do have to watch it.

OR, just buy an HDT and you have solved that problem (and a few more)......
