Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Yeppers...

...we've been here in Oregon now for about 16 months at this retreat and reunion center as ranch hosts.  (Those of you that know us know that we were in the Colorado Springs area for 20 months before moving here.)  However, for several years, I have been wanting to get to Southern Utah to see all the national and state parks, as well as the national monuments and recreation areas.

We sat down a few weeks ago and started looking at places in that area that might have need of volunteers, and we found one.  They have offered the position and we have accepted it and will be there by the first of November.  We will be volunteering in Kanab, Utah at the Hitch-N-Post RV Park and because we are sharing duties with others, we will be "on" for three days and "off" for six days.  Now, that sounds like a schedule that will definitely allow one to explore all the attractions in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah, and maybe even a wee bit of Nevada.  As usual, we are hoping to stay there for at least a year so we have plenty of time to take in all the sights.

Needless to say, I'm extremely excited about going there.  While it has been nice here in Oregon (well except for the smoke that hangs everywhere from all the wildfires), we are anxious to move on.  This move will actually even get us closer to family in Southern Idaho, the Colorado Springs and Western Kansas area, and a wee bit closer to Oklahoma and our sons.

While it is too soon to tell, we kind of have a hope that we could have the time off to attend the Pahrump rally, although we wouldn't be going there in our RV.  We'll have to see how scheduling works in Kanab.

Proof that there are many ways to RV. Our daughter just spent time in Kanab area... loved it. Now it's on our list of places to see starting in about two years.

BTW, (sidebar) In a flurry of posts, you finally crossed the 5000 post plateau... Congratulations? biggrin

T&J, This is excellent! Exploring every place you want to see and where to be is so cool! I'm doing some better! Still have sights on getting a pop-up TC to explore TN. and a few surrounding states, staying in COE and State parks. Take care and enjoy! PIEERE

We stayed at that park and did day trips in the car from there to Bryce, the North Rim, and other areas. Nice park and seemed like a nice little town. So with 6 days off, you should really be able to explore.

Well, we have an update.

Jo and I went to town yesterday to pick up a prescription refill for me, some screws to finish a small bridge we are building, and to go to church.  As we were sitting at Burger King eating supper, we got a text message from the owner of Hitch-N-Post RV Park.  She asked us if there was any way we could come early.  Jo immediately called her and we found out that one of their volunteers, who had had knee surgery, suffered a fall and messed up her knee, so she is in need of help sooner than we first figured.  So, after the call, we set up an appointment to talk to our current boss lady about going early.

We had that meeting this morning and spelled out some ideas of how we could do things in advance to help the Ranch here in Oregon to make it through October, after which things will slow down.  So, our boss lady agreed that we could work together and help the Ranch, so she said we should work to get to Utah sooner as well.

So, now it looks like we will be leaving Oregon around the 25th or 26th of September instead of the 25th of October, which will put us in there by October 1.  In addition, we also found out that Jo and I would be the "long term" volunteer couple at the Utah RV park.  While I don't have any details at this moment, there may be a need for other volunteer couples there in the future.  If that is true, we'll check with Howard and Linda to see about posting something with regards to those opportunities.
