Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Need ideas as to how to spiff up (decorate) the interior of an RV/Camper.

The interior of our camper is just plain ugly,  boring and needs help even though it's only a year old.  I know I  can't drill holes in the walls but surely there is something I can do to make it more attractive.  And,  no,  I'm not losing any sleep over this but just want to make the space MINE.  HELP!!!

There is a lot that you can do to spiff up.

I've seen the following done to interiors of RVs:

Wall Paper
Wallpaper borders
Paint the walls
Add a material covering to the walls
New paneling for the walls glued over the original paneling
I saw one RV that they had put up wainscoting and new bright wallpaper with a border at the ceiling on the walls in the kitchen and dining area. It gave the interior a summer cottage feel.

For the floors, new carpet, tile, hardwood or laminate flooring

New counter tops
New cabinets

New furniture

To hang items on the wall we use the 3M Command Hooks

Different window treatments (valances and/or the fake curtains on the sides) is an often and relatively easily done item and can make a big difference. You have to be careful if you paint as a lot of the surfaces on the interior of new RVs don't hold normal paints well.

I admit to being so very discouraged over the interior design of most motorhomes. It seems they are all stuck on 1970 and have never seen a color wheel. I have no idea what it would cost, but getting some design ideas from a professional interior designer might be one path. Working in MHs you have to be conscious of weight and flexing - perhaps somewhere there are businesses who specialize in modern MH redesign. With a good set of design plans and a material list, you can make the modifications when time and budget present themselves.

Our first RV we painted the interior. The second Rv we went full time in, and Alie eventually had her curtains and such up. We use the Command hooks and the Command Velcro picture hanging stuff with great success. Pictures that we had hung in 2012 stayed in place until 2 weeks ago when we got our new rig.

Another idea is to make fabric panels.

Another product called "Earthquake Putty" we use to stick items to counters, dresser, tv area etc. Stuff works great, doesn't leave any residue. We have a real growing climbing ivy plant that I had in my office 10 years ago. In the last RV is was stuck to the kitchen island... never moved, never spilled. This RV, mounted the same way with a new glob of the earthquake putty.

There are TONS of ideas on Pinterest!  I'm saving them all the time and can't wait until I have time to try some of them!

Thank you all for the helpful info. I've been working on our camper interior and I am very pleased with now it turned out. So much better than what the factory did and now it reflects our lifestyle. Super cute. I used those 3M Command Hooks and Velcro but haven't tried the putty yet. My sister made me new curtains and they are adorable.
