Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Mobile Suites central vac

Mobile Suites owners,

Is there an outlet to hook up the Dirt Devil central vac in the bedroom?  We have the one outlet in the kitchen area, but it would be a lot easier to vacuum if there was a place in the bedroom to also connect the central vac hose.  I've not seen one up there, just wondering if I've missed it.

Thanks!

I had the system on our 07.5 36SB3 and there was just one point to connect to. I assume you have the floor inlet for sweeping into.

Personally I would just buy a cordless Dyson!

We have an 08 and there is only the one. My wife doesn't like it and only uses the floor inlet in the kitchen. Other than that we have a Oreck upright for the carpeted areas.

I'm definitely going to check out a separate vacuum.

Cindy,

Also take a look at the Shark vacuum products.  When we first started living in our Mobile Suites, we had a Dyson canister vacuum.  It wasn't long before Jo decided that it just didn't do a good job of cleaning the carpet.  We got a Shark and she loves it for how well it cleans our carpet.  As for the central vac, we opted out of one of those when we ordered our 2010 because of a number of folks complaining about having to "snake" the hose around the bed in the bedroom.

FWIW, we wouldn't have the central vac again.  It's not the coach brand, its the central vac.  The one in our 2006 KZ Escalate worked pretty well. It was a lower cost "Dirt Devil." So we ordered one in the New Horizons. The one in the New Horizons, not so much. It doesn't work very well and we don't use it at all. Hose was too short as well.  For what they cost I'd consider a small upright of your choosing and save the cost of the higher dollar ones that come in the coaches.

Terry,
That's one of my complaints about the central vac too. Trying to get it around the bed is just a pain. If they would have put an outlet in the bedroom, it would be much easier to handle.

I don't think it would be too hard to do so.

We purchased the 40DB Mobile Suite on display at SOITC Rally last June that was customized with an office instead of double bunks https://cozzy.org/best-central-vacuum-system-reviews/  I have the same problem. Connection is inside the panel door by steps going up to bedroom. I have trouble getting the hose stretched enough but still it flip flops on side of cabinets. Would love to have an answer to this problems.

 Alex,

As mentioned before in this thread, the central vacuum is limited in its ease of use and in its effectiveness.  Enough so, that back in 2010 when we ordered our Mobile Suites, we opted out of the central vacuum.  Instead, we have progressed through different small vacuums until we have one now that the wife really likes.  Early models was a Dyson canister vac, an small upright that neither the wife or I can remember the brand name, and we now have one of the Shark Rocket that is purple in color.  The previous vacuums did not do a good job on the carpeted areas, but the Shark Rocket does a good job so long as one keeps the filters clean.
