Central Vac-vs-portable vacs

Looking for feedback and opinions on Central Vac systems compared to just using a portable...like say a small Dyson.  Would love to hear some pros and cons, and be better equipped to make a decision that is right for us.

Thanks

Last DRV had the Central Vac. This DRV has the Dyson cordless. The Dyson does a MUCH better job!

Dyson! Don't want to drag the central vac hose around the wood cabinets, scratching them. Again, Dyson, hands down. I have both.

I love our Dyson V-6 Ultimate. It will do the whole rig in "Turbo" mode (high-power) in one charge and does a great job.

Don't have a Dyson but my wife doesn't like the central vac. Only uses the vacuum dust pan. Put the vac. hose in storage.

Our central vac is killer! Of course we only use it occasionally (just two of us), but DW seems to love it. It's not a "cheapie" ... powerful and quiet. I'm in charge of the sewer hose so what do I know?

Have the central vac.  Thought it would be great.  It's not.  Portable all the way.

We use both, but most of the time use the portable. The central one is primarily used with the attachments for cleaning vents, furniture, etc. The portable is much better for carpet.

Portable only for us.  Opted out of the central system when we ordered our DRV.  As for the portable, we had a Dyson and got rid of it for a Shark.  It fits well enough in the clothes closet and does a superior job over the Dyson.  Dyson just couldn't do a good job on the carpet like the Shark does.

We like our Shark portable too. We had the central but it died, and the only thing I miss is the baseboard sweep inlet in the kitchen. I really liked having that. Otherwise, the Shark does a much better job on the carpets.

We have central vac with the Dirt Devil...aptly named. It's hose is awkward to use and does a lousy job. Bought a Shark and love it! Sometimes I use it just for fun... just kidding It is great, though.

I totally wanted the central vac option and after talking to many RV'ers and reading lots of forums, came to the conclusion pretty much everyone on here has already communicated--portable vac. We have the Dyson and totally love it...it's just so easy to pull out and give the coach a quick vacuum...and does a great job!

Our Teton has a built in vacuum. DW used it for a while and bought a Shark Vacuum. I reckon the built in vacuum still works. Not used it since she got Shark.

Great input and advice as always. We will be ordering a DRV Fullhouse, and I believe the Central Vac system is a deletable option. Wife has a new Dyson Cannister Pet model ordered, and we will have some time to test it out before the big final jump. In the end we could end up with a Dyson or Shark, but our suspicions are confirmed...it won't be Central Vac.

Curious, what you planning to tow that 24k camper with? Do question DRV about the pin weight. You need minimum 20% and need 25%. They are reportedly putting a light pin on them and others have reported towing problems. Tail sway. jfyi

We got a new Vilano 5th wheel by VanLeigh last month, love the rig, has most of the bells n whistles inc' the central vac. We already had a shark vacuum and love it, tried the dirt devil central vac last week, the hose is pretty hard to pull out and it needed both of us to maneuver it around the RV, don't see us using it too much. I wouldn't pay extra for one!
