Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Help please. I have a 1977 Winnebago sportsman den and I have not had it long. Until the other day all was pretty great with it. we received mild rain and no leaks. then we had a heavy storm come through and it began to pour down in a couple places. We looked on the roof but did not see any place that would allow for the leak to happen. I was wondering what is the best thing to do to fix this problem? I have extreme limited funds. Please any ideas will help.
I'm not an expert on these things but until you can figure out how to fix the roof you might want to get a waterproof tarp or heavy plastic to cover up the roof so that you won't have more water damage. Leaks are sneaky. The actual leak may be in one place but the water will travel and show up in a completely different location on the inside. I've read that it's best to look over the entire roof for gaps in the caulking and then seal them up with something like Dicor self leveling sealant. Water can enter through just a tiny pin sized hole or a small crack in the sealant. You need to check around all seams and anything that is attached to or protrudes from the roof. Before you apply new sealant you need to follow the directions for cleaning the old surface before applying the new to be sure that it adheres properly.
If you google online there are a lot of how to videos that might be of some help. Try something like "how to re-caulk an rv roof". Also I think the Dicor website has some how to videos on how to use their products.

Buy a gallon of Cool seal white roof coating.....clean the roof and apply it.....not hard......2 coats will do it .....also buy a new gasket for the A/C and install it.......this is all a very easy task done in one day and will cover all angles for under a 100 bucks!!!!...........best emergency fix available for the money

Also make sure to check any marker lights you may have on the roof.
Water goes everywhere when it can. It may start in one place and end up coming out or showing up in another so be sure to check all possible entry points. Lights, AC, Vent pipes, caulking around the windows.
