Getting our Fifth Wheel!! YEAH!!!

A huge thank you to Howard and Linda.  We went to our first, but hopefully not last, RV-Dreams rally in Sevierville, TN.  Everyone should go, you will learn so much.  We have been camping in our Airstream since 2001 and loving it and still we learned so much, especially little details that are so important if you are going full-time or part-time full-time as we will be doing.

So in saying that, we loved checking out the fifth wheels and meeting Butch and Karen of RVs for Less in Knoxville.  So we stopped in to check out their inventory on our way home.  Butch gave us some good advice I feel, which is to consider a used fifth wheel first, decide what we like and don't like, and if it works for us.  We fell in love with a DRV and had one priced out for us.  But..... we found a 2013 used Montana with a floor plan that we could live with and not shell out the big bucks right now.  So, Monday we travel down to Tennessee to pick up our new fifth wheel.  We are so EXCITED!!!   :)

I have been dreaming of owning a fifth wheel for more than 15 years, so this is a dream coming true.  We have just enough time to get home, mow grass and pack it up and we head out for 4-6 weeks to explore Wyoming and Montana with my brother and his wife and then meet up with friends.  Neither of them have been to that part of the country so we will enjoy sharing our love of the area with them.  And testing out our Montana fifth wheel.  Hoping all goes well and no issues, but I have faith in Butch as he assures us he will do a very thorough PDI before we arrive and we will spend three days there before heading back to Iowa.

So excited just had to share.  Dreams do come true!!!

The Montana's are good rigs. Many many people are full-timing in them. A 2 year old rig should also have all the bugs worked out letting you enjoy the lifestyle instead of fixing all the little things that pop up.

Congrads on the new rig. If I was forced to decide tomorrow, a one or two year old Montana would be the way to go.

Assume from your signature line you already had the truck to pull it which was a good thing. Hope you enjoy your new home!

Hi Dave and Candy - we were your neighbors in Sevierville. Best of luck in your new 5er. You're keeping the Airstream too aren't you? Hope to see you down the road

Of course, we remember  :)

We are keeping the Airstream, probably let our kids inherit someday.   LOL.   We really weren't expecting to buy until 2016, but after visiting with Butch and Karen and checking out their used inventory, we narrowed it down to two that they had on their lot.  Decided to try the Montana, though wasn't originally the floor plan we thought we would go with, but I think we are going to like it just fine.

Hope to meet up again.

Candy and Dave,

Congrats on the rig and hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours.  We've had our Montana for 2 yrs now and although we've only done some camping during the Summers, we've enjoyed it so far.  But we'll see here shortly how it holds up full time when we take off in August.  Time will tell.

Happy trails.
