Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Furnace Not Working

My furnace stopped working this tonight, it was working fine but when we noticed it getting cold we turned up the thermostat and nothing.... I do hear a one click, followed by another click about 20 seconds later. I checked the fuse and gas and both are fine (Fridge and stove are working on gas). It Is supposed to get down to 29 tonight but we have a portable which we can use for the night.

Any ideas on what it could be?

I take it the fan is not coming on at all when it clicks? May just be as simple as a loose connection at the furnace. Can you access it from outside the coach? If so, open the outer door and you'll see some wires, check to see if they are tight and making good connections. They had some issues with some of the crimp on connections a few years ago so check these closely. There are other causes but this may get you back in business.

If the fan is coming on and just blowing cold air it could be a number of things.

Phil

ps: the furnace works from the 12 volt battery, make sure it is fully charged and not part of the problem.

Correct, the fan is not coming on. I typically hear that "click" right before the fan turns on but now I just get the click. I will check the wiring in the morning.

Thanks!

At 29 be careful with your water, the LP heat will usually warm your water compartment as well, a portable will not do that....

Phil......I took the outside cover off moved some wires around and the fan turned on! We have heat! It is snowing pretty good right now so I am going to let the rig warm up before I go back out there and see which wire it is.

Thank you!

You're very welcome, happy to help and I am glad you got it going again. When we had our 5er we had the same issue. I ended up replacing all the wiring ends myself just to be safe.

Phil

ps: if you run into Steve, Joan, Herb and Christine again tell them Rudee and I said Hi. We all worked together last summer at Crazy Horse.
