Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Jane and Frank from NY!

Hey Everyone!

We are Jane and Frank Cordaro, currently living in Webster, New York.  Frank took early retirement from the nuclear power industry and has been running his own residential maintenance business for several years now.  Jane left her position as a medical assistant last fall to take care of her elderly mom full time (age 90).  We sold our farmhouse in 2012 and rented a beautiful one-story home and moved Jane's mom in with us so that we could better care for her under our own roof.  We've unloaded TONS of stuff on Craig’s list and through garage sales, and have donated a ton more to our local Goodwill and VOA.  We always have several items listed on Craig’s List and actually enjoy watching them go out the door one by one!  Thankfully, we both agree that all that "stuff" needs to go and neither of us has any problems giving it up!  We also have the task of weeding out Jane’s mom's belongings so we are keeping plenty busy!  Currently Jane has the immense project of weeding out thousands of photos, organizing them and then figuring out what to do with all the "keepers"!  Our timeline isn't in stone yet but we are hoping for Fall 2016!  (Jane's mom would move in with Jane's sister in Seattle)  When we are ready to move into our RV, we will have one more "whole house sale" and get rid of the rest in one shot!  We are actually thankful for our current living situation as it is giving us time to go through our belongings, take care of Jane's mom, talk and plan for our future "FT RV life" and continue to do lots of research on full time RV living.  Jane has been doing most of the searching and research on fifth wheels (hours and hours on the internet!) and once we make a final decision on that, Frank will have the task of finding the appropriate TV.  We are attending the show in Hershey in September, although we can only spend one full day there.  Currently our top choices for a fifth wheel are DRV, Excel Limited, Evergreen Lifestyle and Heartland Landmark.  We feel really fortunate to have discovered RV Dreams and the forum which has been so helpful to us!  We are certainly hoping to meet some of you in person someday in the not too far future!   In the meantime, we are learning from all of your thoughts, suggestions and experience!

Many thanks!!

Welcome to the best forum on earth!  I have nothing but utter respect for you both for caring for your mom. We cared for my DH's aunt for 2.5 years. Not an easy job and 6 months later (she passed in February) we are still trying to find the "refresh" button. You are most certainly doing the right thing by reducing your stuff now. It is NEVER too early to start. And we have cleaned out DH's grandmothers house as well as his aunt's, so we have much empathy for you. That, alone, changed my life in a way I can't even begin to explain. They never threw anything away and maybe that is why everything became just STUFF to me... even my own. I truly feel for you!  I would also highly recommed attending one or more rallies hosted by Howard and Linda. The information is highly valuable as you seek this new lifestyle. We hope all turns out well for you both. Good luck in your search for your future home. You are certainly on the right path.

Welcome Jane & Frank,

I was going to suggest you look up Jo & Craig as the shared your current care taking but they beat me to it! Jo had great suggestions, especially about the RV-Dreams Rally!

You found the right and best forum.

Sherry

Welcome Jane and Frank!  We used to live in Brockport!  Actually, we will be spending some time visiting friends there later this month!  You will definitely find lots of great info here from all types of RVers.  Like Jo said, unload now.  It really does take a long time.  It will be much more stress free too.  Believe us when we say it comes quicker than you think!  Enjoy the process!

Welcome to what i believe is the bestest RV Forum on the internet. Lot of good useful information here with a bit of humor tossed in for good measure. Also many compassionate people here who truly understand the ups and sometimes down side of Rving!

Welcome to the forum from another WNY'er. Grew up in Jamestown but left in 1979 to join the Air Force. Don't miss the winters on Chautauqua Lake. We now spend summers in Ocean Park WA. and winter in NorCal. That's the beauty of RV's, you can always find a new front yard ;)
