Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

JP and family says hello and thanks for having us

Hello guys-- I'm from Southern California. My family and I do not full time, but we boondock all summer and shorter trips throughout the year. We have a 20 foot Jayco Jayflight with a 250 watt solar panel and 3000 watt pure sine inverter. I installed an extra 50 gal fresh water tank under one dinette bench and my battery bank under the other bench. We have a Honda EU2000i genset as a back up or as a supplemental. Our limiting factor for boondocking is the black water tanks (which is the bane of my existence).  I also carry a 55 water barrel in the back of my truck. We use that to transport water back to the trailer when needed. I've been refining our set up ever since we started camping back when we had a tent trailer. I love learning and fiddling with our system. I learn something new every trip with out fail. I'm writing a book about our adventures and tricks I've picked up from salty RV veterans such as yourselves. It's a hybid of tips and tricks and interesting or funny stories about our trips, the different places we've camped for free (only one Wallmart story though) or cheap.  It's got everything from packing up for the trip, the mis-adventures that have ensued, to backing the trailer back in the drive way. 15 years of camping (I'm also considering adding some stories from camping as a kid). Anyways, I'm looking forward to learning from you guys. Thanks for having me.

Welcome! It will be great to look at your blog. Black Water seems to be the biggest issue; but most state parks and Rv dealers have dump stations for reasonable price to dump. If you go to free or low cost campgrounds on the web it may give you some locations. Lucky Mike will most likely chime in and give some suggestions as he does much boondocking!
