Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Where is the mojo?

We were supposed to close on the house on Thursday (June 5).  We completely vacated our home in time for the walk through and left our home in NJ for our first stop in VA (staying overnight with daughter's inlaws).  Got a call from lawyer that the closing was not taking place that day because the documents were not delivered from the mortgage company to the attorney's office.  Told to hold tight - it will be Friday.

We left VA Friday morning to head down to Raleigh to stay with daughter for the weekend.  Got a call that the documents were still not ready.  The only information we had was that the underwriter still needed to approve something.  No clue what they need to approve since the mortgage was already approved!  But maybe it will be Monday.

Just got an email from my  lawyer saying that the buyer's lawyer said that the lender believes they will be all clear to close on Wednesday!!  Rather than doing a happy dance, my reaction is how can I believe them?  WTF is going on here?  Not to mention that we could have stayed in the house, had a little more time to finish packing.  Daughter also can't host us during the work week, so we'll need to find a hotel for the next few days.

This really sucks!  But I guess I need to look at the silver lining.  We did sell very quickly and although this is the worst part so far, it (probably, hopefully) has nothing to do with the buyers but with the bank.  Possibly even just an overworked staff that just can't get to finishing the paperwork on time.

Sorry to hear about the dilemma; but the people we do business with always seem to have the upper hand. Since i moved into the 5er on another lot with not many trees by the way. My Over Air TV Service is not as good. I bought a hotspot for internet service and discontinued after a month and over $100.00 wasted; then purchased the Campgrounds WIFI carrier and after 1&1/2 yrs their signal drops at a whim with no service. So; I guess i will have to take my notebook to Micky D's when i need it.
What does the old saying go; Patience is a virtue!!! LOL! Not when we grew up in a 'I want it now' society. It seems like when all is going well someone has to come and throw a monkey wrench in the gears.

I'm a bit apprensive now; as I booked a flight to my old hometown area for the 1st of July. I should be happy; but flying has me a bit nervous due to my health condition and driving was out of the ?? as my old P/up has to many miles for a 3,000 mile trip. I can stay at my Nephew's house and hopefully will be able to rent a vehicle. Then I return by car to my daughter's house in Michigan for a week and return home. If things work out I will return most of the way by Train; have not been on one since the 1970's.

As LM would say; Take some deep breaths; exhale and relax!!! Right!!!

Mojo on the way.

It will happen.

Our closing was delayed by a hurricane off the coast, and no insurance for the buyer would be written!

Give me a break, the storm was cat 1, and over 300 miles away!

It did happen for us, eventually.

Cheryl,
All I can say is WTF with you. I'm going to tell you to hang in there because we have to continue to tell our selves this. I don't know, I just can't wait to get out of this house racket - and it is a racket. Look to the Dream, it may help.

One of the many problems is that to the banks, we're all just a huge pile of paperwork - they don't see the humanity behind the applications or understand (or care) about how their decisions or just plain laziness effects the daily lives of those who are counting on them!

If things are this frustrating for me, I can only imagine how much worse it is for the buyers.  They are a family with 2 very young kids (4 yrs, and 18 months) and their apartment lease expired at the end of April.  I don't know where they've been staying, but they have been very anxious to move in early (even wanted us to rent to them, which our lawyer advised strongly against).  I'm sure when they thought we were closing on Thursday, they probably had a moving van ready to move in Friday or at least over the weekend.

Hang tight and look to the dream is all I can do.  And continue to pray that whatever the bank is waiting for clearance on is still just a matter of paperwork and not anything that will affect their denying the already approved mortgage.

Hang in there Cheryl. When we sold our house we were supposed to close before Christmas. So the house was totally empty, nothing but echoes and memories. Christmas came and went. Delay, more delays. We had a family trip planned on Dec. 29 to Montana. Still no closing. Had given a power of attorney for the closing in the event it happened while we were out of town. We were not going to be the reason for any delays. Got home and finally closed a week later.
It did make Christmas difficult but it all worked out.
And years ago we did have a closing delayed because of a hurricane. Whenever there is a named storm in the Gulf of Mexico there is no way to get a new insurance policy. After the storm there was very minor shingle damage with NO leaks. But since it was so minor it took almost 2 months to get the roof repaired. And the bank would not close until the roof was repaired! But that one went through.
So just sit back, take a deep breath, say a few prayers, and it will work out.

Cheryl - hang in there, it will happen!!

Last year we had 4 delays and finally closed 21 days after the original date. The first delay was actually a welcome one, we still had junk in the garage that would have just been thrown into the storage room to sort through someday. Every delay after that was annoying, 2 of the delays were caused by the buyer so we were a little frustrated that he didn't follow directions from his agent and mortgage company, then another delay due to the under writer.

Like you we left the house thinking it was closing the next day, then another delay and we were 100 miles away getting ready for Dale's next art show. That was another 5 day delay, but it finally happened!!

One thing we did do was to negotiate with the buyer to cover some of the additional expenses due to having to pay another 3 weeks of utilities, taxes, insurance, etc. We were able to do this based on the fact that another buyer's price had been slightly higher, but with a longer closing period, so if we had known the delays were going to happen, the other offer would have been more attractive so our agent negotiated a reduction in closing costs.

In the end, you will be on the road, free of the house and living your dream!! Trust me, a year from now, you'll be able to laugh at all of this, we arebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Fortunately, the delays have nothing to do with the buyer and all to do with the bank. This most recent delay is with the underwriter. As the lawyer for the buyer said "the lender said they will be ready to clear for closing on Wednesday." We shall see...

Meanwhile, we decided to chance it. We left our daughter in Raleigh and are working our way slowly to FL. We're staying over in Savannah, GA tonight (no touristy things; it was just the halfway point). Tomorrow we will go to St. Brendan's Isle in Green Cove Springs, FL where we will establish our domicile and get our drivers licenses. Then we'll spend a little bit of time in a hotel on Daytona Beach.

We'll head down on Wed. to the city where the RV is located and whether we get to live in our cow (castle on wheels) or need to stay in a hotel until the closing is yet to be seen. But we're taking the chance and have turned this extra time into a mini vacation.
