Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Short trip destinations out of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada??

Anyone have suggestions for short trip destinations? Canada or into U.S. I now there should be lots of good places to go and see in Canada. Looking for suggestions from people that had this experience. Right now want to make trips out of long weekends sort of thing. Not sure what to pursue for short 3-4 days ventures. I know the wife and I would like to go to the Black Hills and area but that's not going to be a 3-4 day holiday. Looking for advice......

Unfortunately, no. We stayed one night in Regina headed east from Calgary, then Brandon Manitoba for a couple nights, so we could take a day trip to Riding Mountain. Then off to Winnipeg. We have meant to get back to Saskatchewan, but it hasn't happened yet.

Have you already tried Cypress Hills on the Alberta/ Sask border? My wife and I were touring through there on the bike and it looked interesting. Different area with some incredible views of miles of open grass. I guess you see that a lot in Regina though.....oops. Have you tried Drumheller, Alberta and the dinosaur museum? Some great hikes thru the Badlands and a decent park right on the South Saskatchewan river that we stayed at years ago. Did a coal mine tour in a small town just east of Drum and toured the school etc. found it interesting. Those desks actually fit me a long time ago, def not now.

A little further away for you but a great place is Meadow Lake Provincial Park northwest of Saskatoon. Have been there a few times and always like it. Bring your fishing gear! So many people think Sask is just a big flat grain belt but northern Sask is far from that, lakes everywhere and endless outdoor fun. Have been atving and snowmobiling northern Sask a few times also. Great place.

Have been at Cypress when was a kid on a school bus tour .......Long time ago. Been through Drumheller a long time ago with a car. Been to Meadowlake area with a car many years ago too. The thing is some of our roads up here get quite crappy and rough.......Not nice cruising like some of the Interstates down South. I don't recall what some of the roads were like back then and over the years are they better or worse?? I don't like to travel much of any gravel roads with the Motorhome either. So in a perfect world .......Nice pavement if possible.

Can say for sure that Cypress and Drum the roads are great, smooth pavement. Meadow Lake area well...... let's say some of it is "under construction" biggrin and has been for a few years. We live closer to Meadow Lake on Alberta side so I hear ya loud and clear about our roads not being like southern interstates. Cheers.

That's great info. Can you suggest good routes for Cypress and Drum' for as far as smooth pavement? I will then look at mapping out a destination. Thanks a million...................and yes it looks like there will be "nomorsno". Good name, Hahaha.

The road we were on was Hwy 41 which you can turn south to from the trans Canada after the Alberta border. It was all real nice pavement and not very busy traffic wise. I can't remember any of the park names or the little place we had lunch, pictures only show me in the parking lot. Not much help but a quick google search will fix that. I would also suggest Hwy 41 north from Trans Canada to a small town called Oyen Ab. Be advised that there are no fuel stops from Hwy #1 to Oyen!!! If you need fuel a quick run to Medicine Hat is a good idea. Luckily we met a real nice person in a town named Schuler that sold us his lawnmower gas so we could make it to Oyen. That's another story.

Hwy #9 west from Oyen will take you to Drumheller. It's a little longer route than staying on Trans Canada and using Hwy 56 to Drum but worth the views. Watch out for the herds of antelope, we saw a few along that section of road. The change of geography as you "drop" into the Drumheller badlands always amazes me.

Snow on the ground again this morning but melting quick! Will be glad when we get snowbird status January 2018. Then will be "nomorsno" unless I choose to see it biggrin
