2012 Fall Rally in Harrisburg

We just signed up for our first RV Dreams rally.  Who else is attending and where are you traveling from. Just curious to see who is traveling the greatest distance. We're coming up from Southern California roughly 930 miles.

I know you will enjoy the Rally but 930 miles won’t even get you in the top 10 I’ll bet.  The last Rally's longest distance winner was from way out of the US. People from all over the world come to H & L’s Rallies.

You will have fun, learn a lot and make a bunch of new RV friends.  Expect a lot and you will get it.

Bill,

I had no intention of winning any distance contest.......you're right 900 miles is not a great distance. Just wondering where folks are coming from:)

We'll be coming from Northern CA, however, home is in the Seattle area. Timing is great, we're going to be able to stop on our way home from a combination work/vacation trip to attend the rally and then continue home. Once we arrive home work begins to get the house ready to sell.

We'll be coming from Port Angeles WA. Will be full timers as soon as the house sells. Our plans are to sell our Sprinter and get a 5th wheel. Right now we're mucking out all the STUFF. The house will go on the market in a few weeks. Anxious to meet everyone.

This will be our first rally as well. We met Howard & Linda at the 2010 Tampa RV show after living vicariously thru them for four years while we still worked. We are full timers but our home base is Victoria, BC., on Vancouver Island. We are looking forward to this event and meeting fellow RV'ers. See ya next month!!!

Hello again!  As I recall we had dinner with you two in Tampa along with the gang and got to see that impressive, and unique, tow vehicle.

We won’t quite make it to the Western Rally this year – maybe next – but you will have a great time.

We look forward to returning to one of our other favorite places – BC.  What a great place.

We will probably be coming from Ilwaco WA, which is the Washington side of the mouth of the Columbia River. Not far, really.

That's a hard one to say. We spent the summer in Iowa with our kids, so I could say we started from there but between then and the rally we will be in the Black Hills (thats where we are now), Montana, Washington and Oregon. We are full timers (2 years now) and have wanted to go to a rally ever since we started getting ready to do this and it never worked out. Excited we finally get to attend. For all of you getting ready to FT, going to this rally ahead of time is a great idea, Howard and Linda have so much to share, they are why we are on the road and plan to stay on the road. Can't wait to meet everyone.

This will be our first ralley also. we won't have far to go, just a couple hours from where we are now. At this point we plan to get there Saturday or Sunday to give us a chance to hit Fiddlers Green, a great golf shop, and Cabela's and I'm told the mall before everything starts.

I need to sign up and make reservations today or tomorrow. see ya all there.

Just read all the replys - Harry and I are coming from Merced, CA. and of course Sadie (2 year old Brindle Mix). We are really from Lancaster, PA and moved here to be closer to our son. Harry is trying to sell me on Full time RVing - I am not sure - see what everyone has to say @ this conference. Harry follows RVDreams and shares Howard and Linda's posts. Looking forward to meet all of you at the conference!! :)

Wulf Den here.
We are so excited to attend our first Rally! We are representin' Northern CA, Pacifica to be exact. That is about 8 miles south of San Francisco.
We are planning to retire and go FullTime in 2019. That seems so soon when we think about how much we have to plan and do before then!
I know this Rally will help us make informed and intelligent decisions.
Looking forward to meeting everyone even though we do not have our Rig yet...We get excited just thinking about all the wonderful possibilities!
Everyone drive safe and be well!

Wulf Den,
Just figured out where Pacifica is! We're camped at Half Moon Bay state park for the week between our art shows in Mountain View and Mill Valley. We were just debating last night whether to take Hwy 1 north to cross the Golden Gate Bridge on Friday or to go back out Hwy 9 to the Interstate and saw Pacifica on the map.

See you in Harrisburg.

Yep,,, what a great time and great people. And the learning continued even after we left the rally and headed home. What I mean by that is while driving south Diane asked,,, so are we going to be sad every time we meet new people and then move on.

Thats something I guess we might have thought about but it didn't really hit home until now.

Never Be sad when We part.....Because on that dreary day when you pull into that site in the middle of nowhere there stands a good chance I will be there , Thats the nice part of it all .......one of us will always be there to be friends and after a while there never will be strangers!!!!!!

The playground is big but we all play in the same sandbox!!!!!..........even tho we have not met we will always become friends!!

Don't be sad when you part since you will likely meet again and when you will all have new adventures to talk about. For example we encountered some full-timer friends at River Bend who were not part of the rally. We got caught up with what they have been doing the last two years between rally events. We expect to see people we met at the rally somewhere else down the road, but do not know when but it will be fun.

We had a wonderful time at the rally also. I just posted a recap of the trip on my blog and had a hard time choosing the right photos. It was all good!. My take on the event is at my blog at www.thefergs.com under the 'Daily Journal' tab or here - http://www.thefergs.com/1/journal/2012/Sept1.html for the direct link.
Good times. Good people. We love our life.

We also really enjoyed the rally and especially our new RV-Dream friends. What a great group.

Even after 27 months as a full timer there is always something new to learn. Howard and Linda really put a 110% into this rally!

Safe travels everyone...hope to see you sometime down the road!

Ditto!! What more can I say? We had a wonderful time and can't wait to get the house on the market! As we were unpacking Sunday evening and unloading everything out of the travel trailer, we both had the same thought! We hope to never ever have to unpack after a 1 month trip again, we just want to be done with the constant packing and unpacking associated with part-time RVing and be able to settle into the full timers lifestyle.

We are hanging out at Carrier & Sons in Eugene waiting on a leveler part. Best case it comes Friday, but more likely next Tuesday. "Free" camping with 30AMP, water and a dump station. Anyone else still in town?

We stopped at Crater Lake RV Park on our way back South. The owners, Jim and Pam, are amazing. Their whole goal is to have happy campers in a beautiful forest like setting. They treat their hosts like guests. They are very particular who they have in their park - not by size of your rig, but on your friendliness and happiness RV-Dreams type people - no attitudes welcome there. It's a gorgeous park with tall pines and there are at least two weeks worth of activities (waterfalls, lakes, hikes, rafting, canoing, fishing) in the area so we recommend it strongly. There is a Stewart State Park right in the area that we didn't have time to personally check out but we heard it was wonderful and their website looks good. Pretty sure we will camp host at Crater Lake RV Park next summer so if you go anytime, tell them Sherry & Jesse sent you.

We stayed at Stewart State Park for a week 2 weeks before the rally. I would recomend it. It's a very clean park with walking and bike trails, waterfalls, and a nice large lake. Plenty of space between sites. If everyplace we stayed was at least as good as Stewart State Park I most certainly would be a happy camper LOL!!

Someone at the Rally (we can't remember who) had an electric air purifier. We'd like to hear your comments about it and the model as well. Anyone else with one please chime in.
Thanks!

We have an air purifier. It is a sun-pure with uv light. It kills germs, filters chemicals, dust, pollen. I really like it, really helps with my allergies. I change the light about once a year and the filter about every two years. I ordered it from a distributer out of Port Townsend, WA. If you want that info, I can get it to you. It was so great to be your neighbor for a few days and get to know you. I really hope we get to see each other again soon.
