This will be our first rally

Just how silly will we look showing up in a pop-up trailer?  We're still in the research/looking process for a fifth wheel, and are looking forward to all be can learn from others that are living the dream, but for now we're happy with our little trailer.  And of course it will be a lot bit less expensive than staying in the hotel.

Silly is as silly does!  You shall not look silly!  You  will be in the discovery phase of learing about what may be best for you.  It is far wiser to stay with what you have than to jump at something to later find out you wished you had spent more time in the discovery process.

There are many kinds of gatherings, rallies, conventions, etc.  Howard and Linda from their first rally have provided a very comfortable event with the main purpose of providing a succinct and thoughtful approach to discover what will best fit your individual needs.

To me silly would be to buy something and find out you should have attended an educational rally in your pop-up and learn more than you knew existed that will guide you to a much better purchasing decision.

Not at all! Our two rallies we spent in hotel or cabin as we hadn't gotten our fifth-wheel yet. There are RVs in all shapes and sizes at the rallies. Go and enjoy and learn all you can. Especially go on the rig tour that they offer...you can get a feel for all types of rigs that way.

Thanks for the encouragement.  It's really tempting to buy now what we think will work for us then.  We're still about 3 years away from our dream and I'm sure that once we see how folks use a rig full-time vs camping we'll be making some modificatons to our "must have" list.  For now we love to camp in smaller campgrounds and our pop-up is perfect for that.

This will be the farthest we have towed, the entire trip will be an adventure.  I'm sure we'll learn quite a lot.

HI Brock and Nathalie! Welcome to the forum. Bring the pop up you'll be fine. I see you guys are just a few miles south of us, we're in south Orange County. We'll see you at the rally.

You will be fine. We hope to make the rally and only some family issues will keep us away. Two of our better full-timing friends were ones we met when they were learning about RVs before they bought.

I encourage everyone with an interest in the RVing lifestyle to attend the rally.  We attended the RV-Dreams Rally in Hershey last fall, and it has enhanced our time rving tremendously.  There is nothing like running into people from the rally when in a new campground.  We ran into Leesa and Gary from Texas in Virginia; George and Jean from North Carolina in Pa.; Chuck and Melissa from Tennessee in Pa.; and became friends with Neil and Nancy from our home area.  There is a special bond with those that went to the rally and share a love for rving.  Hope to see you all down the road.

We are also thinking about coming out to the rally.  We are planning on staying in the hotel because we have not brought our RV yet either.

We went to our first rally this spring at Buckhorn in Kerryville TX. and OMG the people next to us had a popup! They also had a SeaEagle kayak, were about 3 years from retirement and the very worst, and I mean the worst, was that they were great dancers and made me look silly. But it didn't stop us from boot-scooting on the dance floor. The rally was fun and informative. There is a quote from another section on this forum "Nothing so liberalizes a man and expands the kindly instincts that nature put in him as travel and contact with many kinds of people. Samuel Clemens AKA: Mark Twain". The feeling of becoming part of this family is very cool, in a popup or in the Taj Mahal! Enjoy

You all come & we'll be looking forward to meeting you. A cabin, a hotel, our small travel trailer, a pop up......the sense I get from H & L is there's no judgement or superiority. Just think what we'll all learn and new friends we'll make. Sequence anyone?

Bill, sorry you won't be able to attend, you contribute generously to this forum. Maybe we'll all meet down the road.

We are planning to attend and probably should register. There are family medical issues hanging over our heads that might cause us to cancel, but realistically even if something comes up we should be able to attend.

We went to our first Rally in Sevierville TN last spring.  We stayed in a motel near by as we did not have an RV.  It was great FUN, we were accepted and never felt like we not part of the group.  We learned so much and it helped to finalize our decision to go full time.  We will be at the fall Rally with an RV this time, barely.  We start full time August 16!

Hope to see all there.

I'm really getting excited and looking forward to the rally. This week we loaned our pop up to our neighbors to put in their yard and use as a spare bedroom for a family reunion, they in turn have graciously offered to let us borrow their truck and fifth wheel for the rally. DH has never pulled a fifth wheel so he's a bit apprehensive in accepting the offer. We're going to take it for a weekend somewhere local and see how it goes. So it's up in the air which we'll show up in On the road to making our dream a reality and wishing we could find a short cut.

You won't look at all silly ! My husband and I started out with a little 8 foot pop up - the smallest made. We've graduated to a 28 ft fifth wheel (also keeping it tiny as possible) . Big difference though between "pushing" our little popup around the spot by hand vs. backing in the fifth wheel ! It's our first rally too. Theresa and Phil (and Sophie, our golden retriever)

 Theresa and Phil,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  As you may soon find, both the RV Dreams forums and the rallies will prove to be very educational.  Feel free to ask questions in both places and you will find that folks are willing and ready to help with them.

Good luck with the RV'ing.

Terry
