Part-time or full time, not sure where it fits in

Well, I am not sure how we will fit into the world of full-time or part-time RVers.  We are definately wannabes and travel with it most of the time, even at 5 mph! LOL!

We currently own a 35 ft. pull trailer, which we love!  The lay out is like a 5th wheel but without the step.  We are out 4 out of 7 days in it at the area campgrounds.  We love not being at our sticks and bricks apt.  We love the peace that we have when we are out.  We have 3 campgrounds within 20 miles from work and have a car that gets great gas mileage.  You can stay up to 2 weeks and then have to move, you can move sites for 2 weeks but can't return for a month.

We are both still working and will be for sometime yet.  But we are looking at giving up our apt. next spring and living in our RV for about 6 mo. until it starts to really freeze up.  We do not have a heated underbelly.  We have a friend who has a basement apt. she may rent for the 6 mo. we can't live in our rig.

We are at the crossroads as to what to do.  We love the RV and we still have to work.
Have any of you been in this type of situation?  What were the results?

OH yes I am there now. My wife Sherri and I are working and will be for the next 7 months. We will both retire in February and then go on the road. We live full time in our 5th wheel here in Dallas Texas. We have been living in it for 2 years now and love it. We know exactly what we need and don't need because we have weeded through all our Possessions over the years. What you are wanting to do and do part time now is not a bad decision. You may latter on in life step up to a larger trailer with better insolation etc...so as to live in it fulltime. If you enjoy living like this then you are a Dreamer for sure. Good luck to you and hope to see you on the road Somewhere in Time.

We are still not sure where it all fits in, but we found a campground close enough by - actually about 25 miles from work with a 6 mo. lease starting April 15.  We will camp there this weekend to really get a taste for it.  It is a new one, the guy put his retirement into it and it is his dream.  It has water, elec and they dump your tank for you.  It has about 30 sites all level.  A pool, shower rooms, a playground for the kids (we don't have any), and they are putting in w/d for next spring, along with a bb court and sand vb.

The cost for the 6 mths was cheaper than that of the local state parks.  The first year they will store our rig.  One day we will have an underbelly but for now we are where we are and enjoying it along the way.
I love my job and they are paying for my schooling.  Currently they have provided almost 1500 for my school this year.  I have 4 years to complete and attain my masters. So, we have about 6 years before we leave here, unless we are called into another ministry.

After writing that post, we moved to the State Park for a month and then pondered what we would do next.  We moved into our other favorite State Park.  Both are close proximity to work and doable.  We stayed out for 2 mo. before it started getting too cold without heated tanks.

It was the saddest day we have experienced, it was similar to watching your children leave home, when we came in.  We closed up the trailer for the season knowing that we will be moving there full time in April.

We will give up our apt. for 6 mo. and looking beyond for renting for 6 mo. leases.  We are so excited but not looking forward to cleaning out all the stuff.

Peace, jands

I won't full time because my home is in one of the highest real estate markets in North America, Vancouver, BC. When I get too sick old & stupid to RV I want a home base to return to and do not want to be priced out of the market. Vancouver is the only spot in Canada you will find a palm tree, so moving somewhere cheaper in this country is not an option. Plus I figure I will need that universal health care more as I get older. So for us its winter in Mexico, summer at home in Canada.
