Full-size four door sedan

I'd really like to replace our Jeep Liberty with a full-size four door sedan. The problem is that most everything I've looked at seems to be designed to be as close to the ground as possible. I'm tired of cars that bang my head as I'm falling into them and require a crane to pull me back out again. One person told me that the Lincoln MKS was designed with "older" drivers in mind, so, even though it is basically a Ford it has taller door openings and the seats are farther off of the ground. Anyone tow one of these?

Why not an SUV? I'd like a lockable trunk again. The MKX or MKT would work nicely as toweds, but they don't have much in the way of lockable trunks.

No help here. About the largest sedan that I know is towable is the Chevrolet Malibu, and it sits low to the ground and has the issues you state.  You can check specific cars on http://www.remcotowing.com/Towing/Store.php, which is about the most comprehensive guide I know of towable vehicles.

Thanks, Bill. I always check Remco when someone suggests a particular car. I found that Remco and the manufacturers don't always agree. Remco says the Mini line is towable as is with the manual transmission, but Mini says NO Mini is flat towable. I know several people who tow them without difficulties, though, so sometimes you have to take your own chances.

I'm 6'3" and rotund...I found two vehicles to be easy to get in and out of:
Honda Odyssey MiniVan
Hummer H2 - no longer manufactured- My 90 year old dad got in and out so easily that I actually considered buying one of these while he lived with us just to make things easier on him.

Unfortunately, the Odyssey needs to ride on a tow dolly.

We bought a 2016 MKX with the idea of towing four down when I retire in a few years.  We really like the vehicle and it is flat towable according to the owners manual and the dealer.  Easy to get in and out of the vehicle, great ride.

Update: We bought a 2015 Lincoln MKT Base yesterday. Earlier this year we talked to a Lincoln dealer who told us that only the AWD vehicles were towable four down. Friday we looked at another MKT and specifically asked to see the owner's manual. It said that all versions were towable four down, so I expanded my search to include the FWD models as well and found this car. Another check of the manual verified that we can tow it.

Now all we have to do is get a base plate installed and the InvisiBrake installed.

Put a steel box in the back of an SUV. Lock it. Sedan trunks are not secure.

Dealer anD salesman/woman say... Why I’m I not listening? Check the manufacturer’s written materials. Save and print.

I don't own one, but my parents who are in their 70's have a Honda CRV. My father has bad back issues and loves it for the ease of in/out.

We changed from a Honda Fit to a Honda CRV last week.  We had a CRV before we started RV'ing and missed the clearance and ride height.

The only problem with a CRV is that you must buy a used one.  They changed transmissions in ALL towable Hondas in 2014 - Fit, CRV, Element.  So the only way to get a usable Honda is to buy pre-owned.

We were also surprised by the lack of models that Jeep offers that are towable.  We would have had to go back to a 2012 Liberty to find a small towable Jeep.

Good luck with the hunt, it isn't as easy as it should be.

The 2014 CRV is the last model year that is flat tow-able.    I verified it with the owners manual, and it is the reason I bought that specific model and year.
